This still has a good possibility of happening and I personally think it'd be the best match-up of the teams in the playoffs. Of course, that's providing the Cubs don't let down their fans, again.  I wonder who the scapegoat will be this time.  oops, sorry about the 'goat' thing Cubs fans. I'm rooting for them to make it to the series and for a seventh game to really make it interesting.

It's an even year....unfortunately the Giants have already won it.  

Cubs vs Sox would be great. Sox winning it to keep the Cubs series less for another year would be sweet..

If the Cubs do play the Red Sox, they should hire Bill Buckner to sing the National anthem and have Bucky Dent throw out the first pitch.

I'm hoping for that matchup too, but the sox dropped their first game so hopefully they can hold on and win this ALDS. 

As a baseball and Red Sox fan I would be torn, I'd love to see the Sox win for Ortiz's swan song, but I would also love to see the Cubbies do what the Sox did in '04 and get that ship sailing past the negativity of the "curse"!

Don't forget the Red Sox have to get past Cleveland & Toronto first. That might be a handful.

Oh, I agree, I was playing along with the pretentiousness of the thread. The Sox are young and this years experience will be a great thing for them no matter how far they get. 

One thing about being a Sox fan vs. a Cubs fan, we know they can still get there. Cubs fans would be breaking out their Hawks attire if the Cubs were down 2-0. 

JT will be singing and I'll be on the edge of my seat in anticipation of another great October comeback.

Tito is ten times the coach that Farrell is. I wonder if Farrell can take some blame for how bad Toronto was. They seem to be better without him.

When the sox fire Farrell, hopefully after this series loss, he will never get another managerial job again, no way.

He was a good pitching coach in my opinion. Some people have their place in baseball's coaching system. Some hit a ceiling and think they have to move up to full on coach when they are better suited for the job they excelled at. Like Farrell.

Well it looks like there is a new ship in Boston harbor.  If Ortiz & Pedroia want to go to the World Series this year, maybe they could buy tickets and bring a couple of goats as dates.  Wait, would Ortiz get nervous sitting next to someone whose last name begins with PED?
