WHY?

Yes, the radio can be distracting.  We are taught, and teach, in Archery that  the human mind can only concentrate on one thing at a time (and there are a lot of things to do to send a pointy stick into the middle of the bullseye).  Concentrate on one thing and you're better off.

That makes perfect sense, but for me if I am concentrating hard on something my mind turns the music off and I don't even think about turning it down.

Ever drive down a street looking for an address, and you turn your radio down so you can see better?

Sometimes I take off my glasses when I can't hear what's happening!  ;  )

Hmmmmmmmmmm I drove a 18 wheeler for 31 years. I always turned the radio off and roll down the window when backing up to a dock or driving on snow and ice. I do the same thing with my boat.

I always did that with my boat. Wanted to be able to hear the "CRUNCH" before to much damage was done....lol.

All the time.

Probably not a coincidence that I also will close my eyes when trying to isolate a particular sound in a noisy environment.  Was that a white throated sparrow?

Kind  of like listening to a radio in a boat....i do like music but natures noises are much better and sometimes its hard to concentrate with all that's going on with "Mother Nature".  Guess I'm getting old.......er.
