Looking for ideas.  Have a rod that works OK now...but looking for something better...want less weight, more sensitivity...not hung up on brand names.

 

Had a 7' 1" in. St. Croix Rage that worked great...but I broke it.  Replaced it with a 6' 9" St. Croix Avid (AVC69MLXF).  It's OK...but it fishes "softer" than the Rage and seems to give up a little sensitivity.  Not wild about that.

True bfs rods are usually under 7ft. Generally around the 6'6 range and less. St. Croix rods have been known to fish heavier than their ratings. So it's possible the avid was truer to its actual ratings.  What's the lightest stuff you plan to throw? Phenix offers a 712 and a 713 in their recon series. Nice rods for the money. 

I am a big fan of the Majorcraft rod lines. Lots of UL, L, and ML options from various series and price points. Like Ripp'n said most are under 6'7. They are bringing around 3 of their rod lines over from Japan to the US so it may be worth the wait to avoid shipping and fees.

BFS= Bait finesse system.

My understanding of bfs is essentially fishing ultra light casting rods, reels, line, and lures for pressured fish. That is my interpretation of it, anyway.  Im sure others will be able to answer this better than I. Its big in Japan, too.

Probably not much lighter than 1/8 oz.

Iovino Majorcraft finesse rod should work for you, 6'10".

Well, I have a SC Rage 6'10" MLXF and I have rigged it and fished with it with line as light as 4# and with a 1/16 jighead with a 2" Kalin Crappie Scrub (back when you could get them that size) and have pulled nice sized LMB and Spots off of a deep gravel to sand transition. It has produced well for me these past 3 years.

not  sure if this would fit your need.   look at petertfishing.com on lews video match speed stick im6. think around $69  I have not personally fished the rod,  but do know he is a stand up guy.

OK...error on my part, the rod I had as the Rage RC610MXF...so it was 6' 10", Medium extra-fast.  Not available anywhere I can find.

 

That may open some doors and close others...
