Officer in the United States Army.

Got to go to the Orient where I was a company commander and I got to hurt people and break things compliments of Uncle Sam.

Entered active duty June 1968 and served until June 1974.

Was asked to re-up to be a captain but my three brushes with death were too much for me so I left the Orient and returned to the good ole USA where men's shoes had tassels. That was a major surprise. Men's shoes with tassels. Who came up with that idea?

For some reason I made it out in one piece. Don't think back on those days anymore. Or the guys and gals who did not come home.

Just thankful that I can go fishing and enjoy every day, good or bad. :)

3 years of college before I ran out of money.  Joined the Army as a forward observer for a special 2 year hitch that gave me enough money in the GI bill to finish college.  Graduated from college went to work in Wal-Mart management for exactly one year before I decided I'd rather spend my life on boats than in a store.  Joined the Coast Guard, became a Boatswain's Mate and retired after 18 years of service.  Went back to work for the CG as a civilian SAR controller for 7 years and now as a commercial fishing vessel safety specialist.  Been doing this for 6 years.  I am going to retire again in 3 years.

Paul Barnard (my user name is my last name spelled backwards)

Active Duty Army Aviation. Only have a couple more years to retirement.
