I've looked around online for extra brakes, but I can't seem to find any (just in case I later break one). Does anyone know of a site where I could purchase some? What about other Shimanos? Will any of their brakes work?

Call Shimano directly. I'm curious why you think you need extra. I've ran almost all Shimano reels for 20 years and I've never had to replace a brake tab. 

Don't bother buying extra right now, save it for when you actually need it, if you ever do

Shimano has always answered on the 2nd or 3rd ring when I have called them. Great service.

Thanks for the link, but will the brake blocks from the 200 work on the 70? I believe the 200 are red, while mine are white.

your reel, I assumed it would be there, but I don't

see the CU70 anywhere in the list!

if you are talking about the 4 internal adjustment, I dont think you have to worry about damage or lost it while adjusting. This thing attach to the reel and wont come off like old shimano(I know I almost lost one on my curado 100d) and to break one I dont know how you gonna break the thing this thing dont need adjust ment every time to cast.

For side note, I think I read somewhere that on curado 70, 4 brake on and dial on 1, equal 2 brake on older shimano.

The different colors designate the weight of the brake itself. I believe the clear one's are the lightest one's. I have never got into swapping them around, as I have never found a reason to do so (as I mentioned before). I'm not at home to actually compare my two reels for you, but I'm 80% sure the brakes are completely different between the 200 and 70.

I just hope the 70 doesn't turn out to be the reel you can't find parts for. It seems like no online sites have parts for them. It's why I was wondering if there's an alternative way to go, such as brakes or a spool (with brakes, of course) that will fit the 70.

Since there's nothing on Shimano's site, this is when I'd

give Shimano a call....

Shimano redesigned their SVS Infinity system recently.  It's represented in the new Met MGL, Casitas, and 70 series. 

Shimano's tech rep assures us that the new brakes won't wear out.  That's why they don't furnish spares. On a side note the new design works best with all 4 tabs on and adjustments made externally with the dial.  Hope this helps.

You are worried too much man just go out and have fun with your reel.

Sorry.  I overlooked your post before I made mine. You fully understand the new system. Confidentially, I kind of miss the old VBS like your 100D.

For the reels that arent in the Shimano store (and the MET MGL which will not open) you have to go to their main site, open the PDF diagram below (blue tabs on right side of page), write down the part numbers you need and call them. BTW, i do not see individual part numbers for the brake shoes.

The Curado 200 and Curado 70 have two different braking systems.

The Curado 70 has a newly engineered SVS as mentioned. The basic concept is the same as the 200 I.

Does anyone have any spooling recommendations?

 

Should I tie (I'm using Powerpro braid) in a hole on the spool, or just tie it to the spool? I also would like to know if I should start it with mono line or not.
