Never used the above line but found a nearby source at a reasonable price - what are your favorite applications and experiences with this line ? Thanks in advance ...

I use it as my leader line 75% of the time.  It's knot strength and abrasion resistance are incredible and it tests well above its rated strength.  If you're fishing around the abrasive stuff, I can't recommend it enough.  As a heads up, if you're spooling it right to your reels, though, line and lure conditioner is a must as it tends to have a lot of memory.

I use it for leader material for everything I throw, which

is mostly soft plastics, but I've used it for cranks, jigs, 

spinnerbaits, etc. Have it from 4# to 15#. But of late I've

been using Gamma Edge fluoro in 6, 8, 10# for my leader.

I will mainly use for leader material  , I currently have been using P-Line Floroclear for the same application .

I actually really like Floroclear. I've got lots of it laying 

around. Never had issues with it for leader material that

some here have.

 

The Line BaitMonkey bit me a few years back and I bought

lots of P-Line, then YZH...got lots of both.

It's all that I use. The Hybrid and their Flouro. 

Love the stuff. Use it in place of mono for the most part now a days. If I'm not using Sniper, I probably have Hybrid spooled up.

I switched over to this last year. I ran 10 lb test on all my rods. I fish a lake that is mainly structure little to no cover. This line handled my cranks, t-rigs, drop shot extremely well. I am going to keep running it.

Call me lazy.  Or simple.  Or cheap...whatever...I use YZ Hybrid or braid on every reel.  As @Turkey sandwich mentioned, conditioner is YZ's best friend.  I use KVD L&L.  Could not be happier with the results.

Most guys like it, but some don't. I recommend #12 for baitcasters, #6 for spinning tackle. 

The performance is GREATLY improved with KVD Line & Lure Conditioner.

 

It's not bad line in my opinion.

 

I have tried 8lb, 12, 15 and I think it is decent line. Walmart by me sold it really cheap and it is better than most other cheap lines I've used. It has great abrasion resistance. It is strong as heck.

I like it for spinnerbaits, crank baits, chatterbaits...moving stuff. But mostly spinnerbait cause we have a lot of pads down here and you can get that spinnerbait through, up and over the pads and if you get snagged it is usually strong enough to get your lure back.

 

With that said, the only one I like for bottom contact is the 8lb. It is the one I feel has best sensitivity out of the different tests I tried. Since it is stronger than it is rated it works well for my area.

 

Why I don't care for bottom contact with it: I find it has too much stretch, not as sensitive as fluorocarbon.

 

One other thing, I found myself going through a ton of KVD line conditioner, and that stuff ain't cheap.

 

Also it isn't ideal for topwater baits, because it does sink. Not as fast as fluoro but it does sink.

 

So currently I use my 12, 15 as backing. Works great as backing lol.

 

I love the stuff and use 10 for jerkbaits, crankbaits, and weightless plastics.  I use 6 on 2500 spinning reels and 4 on 2000 size.  I don't have any handling issues with it at all and recommend it for everything except top water.  I run 20 on my swimbait setup. 

The line does not sink, it floats with surface tension. That means it doesn't pop up like

a bobber, but it will stay on top of the water when the line is slack. There is absolutely

NO impact on any presentation, including topwater.

 

 

 

I use 12# as a main line for cranks, traps, spinnerbaits and chatterbaits.

Any stretch it has is an advantage  (other than traps) plus it has a breaking point of close to 19lbs

I love it for jerkbaits. That's where I use it the most.

I feel like with topwater baits I have a harder time walking a bait, or working the bait on the surface than with mono. So that to me is a negative impact on my lure.

It is certainly a better option that fluoro for topwater that is for sure. But if I have to choose between Mono and YZ for topwater, I am picking mono every time.

Seeing that you probably fish the same waters as I do, useing mono for top waters down here, even tho it has it's advantages, would scare the bee jeezes out of me

I use it a lot for leaders on my spinning rods for drop shots, shakey heads, finesse worm presentations. I tried spooling up 12lb but didn't really like it a whole lot for that. More of a personal preference thing for me since I'm used to braid mainline and didn't like the stretch I was getting on hooksets. 

Topwaters i run braid to 14lb xl or strait xl.  IMO topwater is not the lines strength at all and it must sink just enough to really hinder the action on sammys and duo pencil baits.  I also find it to have very little stretch.  The YBH soft has a lot but the standard not so much.

Mike I agree with you on that. There is a lot of water down here with stuff you wouldn't want to use mono in. But there is enough that it is ok to have a rod with mono dedicated for topwaters/cranks/spinnerbaits.

I do all those on the same rod and reel. For example one place I will use topwater on mono is certain places on lake Okeechobee. Some of the flats you can get away with the mono. Though with all the hydrilla growing it is becoming less common for me to throw them on mono.

 

Some ponds and lakes and canals I fish down here in Miami can be fished with mono as well. Very clear water.

 

In fact there is one lake I fish that has a limestone bottom, the water is crystal clear. Throwing a HB frog on braid will rarely get you a strike. You put a HB on mono and all of the sudden it becomes a viable technique. That is a tough one though. A mono with low stretch like Senshi is important. Hard to drive the hooks into a fish.

 

When I say topwaters I am generally talking stuff with trebles. Wouldn't fish trebles in most of the vegetation we have down here like pads anyways. That requires braid and snagless lures.
