Reel covers

Featured Replies

I'm looking for a real cover for my low profile baitcasters. The one I tried is the tacklewarehouse one. It's nice but has no cut out for the line. If I put it on it will pinch my line and kink it. Are there any good baitcaster covers that won't pinch the fishing line? What ones do you guys recommend?

thanks!

The TW covers work fine and won't hurt your line. Myself and others have been using them for years now. Just put a little slack in the line when you put it on.

I cut a small slit in the front of the TW covers to allow for the line, but I have more recently been buying the Rod Glove covers and like them a little better.

Yeah I'll try cutting a little slit in them and see how that goes. Thanks for the advice

I use the cheap one from BPS, probably the same ones at TW, doesn't hurt the line.

X2  I have them on all my baitcasters and have never had an issue.  I crank the drag to minimum when storing my reels.

Academy has some for $2-3. Work well, cut a slit in those too.

Do the TW covers put any black marks on the reels? Like the dye from the material rubbed off into the frame of the reel? Anyone notice this? I don't want them to mark up my new curado I ....

And no I have not noticed them marking up my reels...but then again most of my reels are black so you might want to ask someone else.

Yeah most of my reels are silver in color so I'm worried about the cover bleeding throw and outing black spots on my reels.

none of mine bleed (TW and Academy)

Your Curado will be fine.

I had a small stain happen on a Daiwa TDZ 103 from a TW cover, but I think something was spilled on it that cause the color to stain.  Regardless, it was enough for me to try the Rod Glove version.

Has the rod glove stained any of your lighter colored reels?

That's kinda strange. I've used them in the rain more times than I can count without issues.

I've seen neoprene covers bleed.

Nope.

Shimano covers on my reels.. Well made and last.

I'm an idiot, and should read before posting - it should say, I've NEVER seen neoprene bleed. Sorry....

Another vote for the TW covers, I use them on everyone of my reels. Rain, snow or shine no issues here.

Shimano covers for my reels as well. I have some rod glove covers as well but I don't like them as much.
