I have 1 nice spinning setup and 5 nice casting setups. i find myself using the spinning rod more. I live in pa and fish small lakes with lots of pressure. Should i invest in more spinning rods?

yes, you can never have to many!

Since you already have so much gear I'd invest in just 1 nice spinning setup.  NRX and a Stella.

I see spi gear for light finesse techniques.

If you want to be able to fig two set-ups, yes.

Sure, why not?  A tidbit of my journey:

 

I am mostly spinning now after going almost all casting

as part of an experiment/desire to use casting gear for

everything I used spinning for. So I went with two 

Chronarch 50e's modified to 7.1:1, etc. I could really

cast almost every bait I used on spinning.

 

Only problem, I found it more work than just using

spinning gear! So I began the journey back. Sold one 50e

and kept the other, which I fish on occasion now.

 

As far as accuracy, my 5'9" Compre with a Stradic is 

ridiculously accurate, far more so than my longer rods (up

to 6'6"). I'm quite proficient with casting, and quite accurate.

So equal accuracy is attainable with spinning gear.

Well, this discussion should probably include

fact that each rod will load differently with

different lures/plastics, and so forth.

 

I was casting a 1/20th oz Z-man mushroom

jig with a TRD last night on both my 6' Premiere

MLF, and my 5'9" MXF Shimano Compre. Same

line/leader. I was more accurate with the shorter

rod, although I won't complain about the 6'!  

 

I have a formerly 6'3" MLXF Croix that was, still is

pretty darn consistent in my hands with accuracy.

 

Point here is "in my hands". Match up proper line,

lure, rod and you should be good, getting better 

with every time you use it.

Thanks! I already have a 7' Medium Tournamnent ZX combo. It works really well for everything. I also have an ultralight ugly stik for live bait. I want to add another rod for trouts, small accurate casts in hard to reach places. I fish the Ned rig dropshot and keitechs the most.

Spinning = Finesse fishing

 

Baitcasting = Power fishing

I totally agree, I just find I fish finesse more, what spinning setup should I add next?

Custom Senko rod from DVT/ Shimano Stella 2500. Have him build the rod just like mine!

 

I posted on your other post but I will do it again.  Go look at a Dobyns Sierra SA 692 SF, It is a 6'9 rod perfect for your drop shot, ned rig stuff. Try mounting your current reel on it and see if it balances well, it should balance right around he threads on the reel seat.  If not I would upgrade both of your reels to a 30 or 35 size Pflueger President, or maybe an Okuma RTX30. I wold use your current rod to throw baits like 7 inch Kalin Grubs, tubes , shakey heads and other plastics.

I agree with accuracy being paramount but have no issues at all with spinning tackle in that regard.

sure, pitching is easier with short rods. any reason why you want to go so short?

 

the Stradic 2500 ci4+ is a great lightweight reel. a bit cheaper than the stella

looking to go short because that rod comes with the smoke reel for only 180.

 

most likely to go wit the stradic and powell

ok but make sure you want a 6'3". i would only use that for topwater and jerkbaits.

Half the battle is finding out what works for you. If you know you prefer spinning your battle is half over

 

Before spending big money on the Shimano check out the Diawa Revros. I was truly impressed fondling it in the store and its inexpensive.

well you have to have a rod for every bait, right?

 

i could go out all day with 3 spinning combos and have a good time. i'd fish 1/4oz skirted jigs with 3" trailers on a MH. paddletails, weightless and light t-rig on a M. finesse plastics, small inline spinners and trebles on a ML.

 

for 3/8+oz moving baits i prefer the BC reel. 

 

Hmmm, that's one real big Pike caught with what ? ...... a spinning reel, so I guess spinning gear does have big enough huevos.

I'm with you on that. I usually take three spinning combos, but one is just for play. It's a cheap UL reel on an ancient L Eagle Claw 6' composite (mostly fiberglass) rod. It only holds about 50 yards of 6# mono. But when they won't bite anything, I bust it out with a Rooster Tail, Beetle Spin or Road Runner. There's always a shot at a bluegill, warmouth or crappie on one of those too. And that combo won't overpower any of those.

 

I only use two serious bass spinning rods.
