New fella from TN

Featured Replies

Hey guys n gals, I'm new here. I'm 25 and from Knoxville TN (GO VOLS!)

I'm new to bass fishing, just started this spring actually. I began fishing about 2-3 years ago for catfish because I wanted to catch big fish and I knew catfish get huge. But it turned out to be rather boring because all you have to do is tie up a Carolina rig and put a chicken liver on there and just...... sit. I caught a few channel cats but nothing big like I wanted and I eventually got bored of sitting around waiting for a bite. So this spring I decided to try some bass fishing. I've caught a few largemouth and smallmouth and now I'm hooked! (Pun intended...) I fish fort Loudon lake mainly. Since I've just began bass fishing I've been doing the "finesse" technique. I've been trying a Carolina rig using my medium power rod with a spinning reel loaded with 10lb test, and flourocarbon 8lb test as my leader. I have 1/8 oz slip sinker, sometimes I use 2 for a little extra help staying near the bottom. And im using 1/0 hooks. Seems to be a pretty good finesse setup for me. And I'm just using finesse worms and I've got some baby brush hogs, and even a little paca craw. Just soft creature baits... Anyways, just wanted to check in with everyone and say hello!

Welcome and have fun! I'm new to bass fishing (targeting them that is) too and I've learned a TON of stuff here inside of two weeks. I'm "hooking" more of them too, but boating the biggins?...not! I\Yesterday I was pouring all over here reading about fighting bass...do that yourself (a tip from me to you).

All in all - WELCOME! You've started a great adventure my man!

Thanks for welcoming me, I'm glad to be a part of this forum. Went fishing this evening but got way too much of a late start. But my buddy did catch a little 1lb largemouth within the first 15 mins but that was the extent of the action

Welcome from another East Tennessee fisherman.

Also another welcome from a fellow East TN fisherman
