Looks like a Doyo product? The quality of the bearing and internal materials might be sub par, but those grips YUCK.

13 bearings is all? I only use reels with more than 14

I hate to admit this, but I bought one for a trunk combo. They are junk.

More bearings a lot of times =/= better reel. In fact past a certain point, and especially in this case, I'd argue it makes it worse, because you now have so many low quality bearings in the reel your likelihood of one of them wearing out and affecting performance are much higher. Reels like this often times shove bearings wherever they can. I've heard of some putting 6 bearings in the handle....and I'll guarantee this one here has at least 4 in it's handle. Now what would be better, having 2 poor quality moving components in a spot, or 4....or 6? All you're doing is increasing the likelihood of failure. The sweet spot for any reel is having high quality bearings only where they add a worthwhile frictional benefit vs something like a bushing. And I'll guarantee a 40 dollar reel is not using high quality bearings. 

 

That being said the reel might not be terrible, I've never tried it, and for 40 dollars you might just be able to get your money's worth. But do not buy it for the amount of bearings. 

That handle looks awful, not that the rest of the reel looks great. 

The reel may be junk but I saw grips just like that on a $600+ Megabass reel.

High bearing counts on budget priced reels are a necessity.  Often, the tolerances are not as tight and materials not as strong as a high end reel, and the bearings help strengthen the reel, and keep moving parts in alignment.  There are probably four bearings in the knobs, and this is a very typical way to increase the bearing count.

It was an inside joke to myself since i havent used facebook in a couple years.

It's crazy why bearing count still appeals to everyone as awesome.

Looks uncomfortable as well. Horrible design on those knobs IMO

All I can say is you really get what you pay for in reel I learned my lesson this season when I bought a kastking reel and it broke after 3 weeks sent it in for the warranty and they never sent me a new one back. In my opinion if you're going to buy a cheaper real by one of the models from a well-known real maker like Abu Garcia quantum Shimano. From now on I'm just going to bite the bullet save the money in purchase reels in the $100 to $250 range

Total bearing count doesn't mean a thing.

Where and quality is what I'm interested in.

13 Fishings new offering debuted at ICAST this year has ZERO bearings. Offered for preorder at TW now----$200!! I think I'll wait until it's been out a while and let a few people post some reviews on it before I commit!

The cover is polished by uv rays..so there's that.

 

That isn't really new, before reels had bearing they all used bushings and that reel is no different. The difference is what the bushing appear to be made from and it is hard to tell without actually holding them.
