Super User fishballer06 Posted December 11, 2017 Super User Share Posted December 11, 2017 I finally got my opportunity at a big whitetail buck and I made the most of it. He green scored at 147-3/8" and according to the PA record, book, would put me at 15th in my county (of all time) for a typical buck during rifle season. The rack is almost perfectly symmetrical with only 1.5" of deductions.
Loomis13
Getting over 140 is impressive with 8 pointer for sure! Congrats the buck! His neck still looks pretty swollen? Perhaps it's just the picture. Being from Iowa I can't imagine hunting with a rifle, but they did allow straight walled rifles this year so maybe the time is getting closer..Anyway definitely a nice deer! My taxidermist said it's the biggest neck he's seen from this area. He said he's seen some 26" necks on deer from Canada, but never anything 24" around our area. It was the biggest bodied deer my father and I have ever seen. I don't know what the deer weighed, but we (father and I) were unable to lift this buck by ourselves up onto the back of our Kubota buggy. I believe that the antler restrictions are having a positive affect, and I believe more guys are passing up on legal "scrub" bucks and holding out for bigger bucks.
Super User gimruis Posted December 18, 2017 Super User Share Posted December 18, 2017 This is a great buck. Deductions? I don't really see any from the photos you've attached. Quick question, are you left handed? Your gun looks like a left handed model because there's no bolt on the right side in view.

Only 1-1/2" of deductions. So nearly perfect. The casting reels are all left handed, but the rifle is right handed. It's just perfectly hidden behind that one tine. I noticed that after I took the photo's too.
ThatredneckguyJamie
Great deer! I never bought into the whole "deductions" thing...I'm more along the mindset that if the good Lord let him grow it then it counts in my book
