Mark Davis and not because he's from my hometown or the fact we fish against each other occasionally or because my best friend has his boat from last year or because he helps out our high school team

  • Congratulations to The 2018 Bassmaster Classic Champion ~ Jordan Lee Only the third angler to win the Superbowl of bass fishing back to back. He kept his head down, adapted to the constantl

Backpack should be fine.

Remember to bring a special pen so the pros you meet can sign your cap.

Look for the lines that form when a pro starts giving away stuff, too. Get in line and see what you get.

Have fun!

Does the weigh in get completely filled up? How early should you get there if the doors open at 3:15?

  • Super User

Sideways, I did not go the the weigh-in as I was having too much fun at the exhibition hall and my wife was picking me up around 5 to meet Glenn and the guys for dinner.

I understand the weigh-in is a blast and there are lots of seats. If you get there when the doors open you should be fine.

I'm predicting Ott Defoe . I expect him to win a classic or AOY soon .

@Cdewyse I take a bus that's provided by the city of Greenville from the Expo to the weigh-in site. It's best to get in line early for the weigh- in.... They don't open the doors early and the line wraps around the block quickly.

What time do you recommend getting in line?

  • Super User

@Cdewyse let me do some checking and I will get back to you o, times. I think my wife and I got on the first bus out and stood in line for a little over an hour.

Yep.  I remember seeing the line for the busses to take the guys and gals to the weigh-in.

This is the week!  Who's going to step up?  After 7 AOYs and 4 Classic wins, does anyone think KVD still has some magic left in that bottle to set a Classic record of 5 wins?

I definitely think he has a chance but I think there are better younger guys

There are a lot of good "under 40 years" anglers who are very hungry.  The competition will be tough . . . . that's for sure.  It wouldn't bother me if Van Dam did pull one more rabbit out of the hat though.  Each year that passes will make it tougher.  I would like to see a new record.  I think Roland Martin's 9 AOYs are beyond reach, personally.

Keri and I will be there, wandering the aisles at the expo each day.  Step up and introduce yourself if you see us!

This weekend's weather for the Superbowl of bass fishing is interesting.

Friday's forecast see's intervals of clouds & sunshine with air temps up to 70 degrees with a 10-15 mph Westerly wind.

Saturday's temps expected to drop 20 degrees to the low 50's with an East wind, overcast skies & 50% chance of RAIN. ENE winds 5-10 mph.

For the Final day on Sunday, should / could see the sunshine again (with some scattered clouds) and air temps rebounding back up into the mid-60's.  The wind is expected to back around to NNE by again stay near the 5-10 mph mark.

Certainly not 'stable' conditions, sort of seasonal, and not nearly as brutally cold as the last Classic here where the first day launch temps were brutally cold.  I think single digits if I remember correctly.  This forecast appears a whole lot more fishable.  Could see more fish shallow.  Be interested to see how Casey Ashley's deep brush pile bites go over these there days.

Here's the field of superior Bassheads who'll be trying to make it happen in this the 2018 GEICO Bassmaster Classic on Lake Hartwell, Greenville, S.C. March 16-18

Good information, A-Jay.  Though that second day cold front could shut the bite down a bit, it will definitely be better than the single digit morning they had the last time it was at Hartwell.  I'm looking forward to seeing how everyone adjusts on day two and three.

I got my fantasy picks in .   Some people have some kind of basketball bracket going .  Whats up with that ?;)
