Saturday "smallie"...

Featured Replies

A late afternoon solo trip on Chickamauga Lake. Fishing for largemouth but they were a little tight lipped. I did get a nice smallmouth out of the deal on my way in around 5:00 pm when I decided to make one last stop. I caught it on a secondary point on a blade bait. Water temperature 43-44 degrees. I'm ready for some warmer weather.

Fat winter build on one of our southern ones is still probably skinnier than one of your fish would be post-spawn. I'm surprised you were able to identify it.

Our lake smallmouth are usually on the skinny side but we've got some big shoulder football looking "smallies" below our dam. Of course Dale Hollow Lake here in Tennessee holds the world record. Would I rather be in Michigan smallmouth fishing...yes ! As of right now for largemouth I wouldn't go anywhere but here on the "Chick" with double-digit bass common including a 14 and a state record 15 pounder.

The smallmouth below the dam on the Tennessee river look a little more like the one in the pic below. Always swimming in the strong current bulks them up pretty good.

Nice smallmouth @Hawg - Wild, did yesterday's rain stain the water down there at all?

I doubt if it did too much. Maybe a little in the creeks. I didn't fish yesterday but hoping to get out for awhile tomorrow.
