I have a few wiggle warts and rock crawlers that I throw in the colder months or the winter I tried maybe once or twice in the summer but had no luck do any of you catch fish or use these wiggle warts style baits in the summer?

 

I throw crankbaits in the summer. I usually start with a crankbait unless something about the conditions tell me that won't work. The depth determines which one I use. Unlike what all the pros tell you I don't like it to digging into the bottom.

I throw crankbaits a bunch also but I don’t use the wiggle wart style baits in the summer I just always thought of them as cold water baits? 

If you fish for smallies in rivers then a wart will produce all summer long, at least in my experience that is

I tend to fish medium & deep running crankbaits during the summer in late afternoon to dusk.

Yes , Wiggle Warts work in the summer .

Everything I’ve ever read or seen on YouTube has pretty much said these are mainly cold water water baits but I did throw them down the shore line of a rocky dam a few summers ago and had no luck so I figured these baits are just better in cold water so I just don’t throw them in the summer?

If the water is soft, the wiggle wart is in play.

Don't be telling everyone about the most effective shallow water crankbait ever, please? I need to win some money in these local tournaments somehow.

I put the wart away once the water gets to be 60 degrees or so. There seems to be a time where they will get off the wart and on a deeper bulkier bait like a deep little N ,but it doesn't last long.

Post spawn, I either throw a squarebill if I can get them up shallow or a 5 or 6XD , DD22 ect. usually around mid June.

That's not to say they wouldn't chase a wart or RK but I think there are better options.

Yeah no doubt I was just curious if anyone used them in the summer.

 

They can produce almost anytime. I'll tie one on if I'm looking to show 'em something different. Kind of like a blade bait, they're not just for cold water. 

Growing up, summertime was the only time I threw them, mainly because bass season didn't open until the 3rd Saturday in June.  What gave you the idea they were a cold water bait?

Things people talk about to hear themselves.  Warts work, so long as the water is wet.
