Who has the best technique specific bait casting (and spinning for that matter) under $150 ?  ... Top Water / Jerk Bait , Spinner / Chatter Bait , Football Jig , Frog , Flipping , etc. you get the idea ... Thanks in advance !

Thanks - was looking for a company with a range of easy to select technique specific rods . Initially looked at the Cabela's XML series but the whole series appears to have disappeared ?

I don't know anything about the Cabela's branded rods. I have the above-mentioned rod and the Fury swimbait rod. They really are nice for the price and they have a lifetime warranty. The whole Fury line is full of technique specific rods in both casting and spinning.

I wouldn't specify the fury line as technique specific. They are more just generic.  Anyone can take a medium power rod put what it could be used for and call it tech specific. Dobyns fury rods are very nice though.  I personally have 6 of them.  Another rod to look at would be the daiwa tatula line. Or for a little more the tatula elites which are tech specific. 

 

I've got several of the newer xml rods and a bunch of the tournament zx rods. All are extremely well built and I highly recommend to anyone. Lifetime warranty,  Winn grips, super nice build quality. I wouldn't hesitate a bit to try one. The xml are on sale right now I believe. Normally 129 on sale for 90

"Technique specific" is just a fancy industry term to try and sell more rods for different purposes. A 7'0" MH is a 7'0" MH, regardless of whether or not it says "jig and worm" on the sticker.

This I totally disagree with tapers in rods imply different actions to the rod blank itself.  There is a big difference in a 7' mh crank bait rod comparing to a 7' mh jig rod even if both are made of the same material.

The St Croix Mojo Bass come in a variety of actions.  I have two right now and plan on expanding.

Obviously, the action is going to play a role in whether or not a rod is better suited for one technique over another, but the point is the same. The power and action of the rod, as well as the lure weight ratings, are the only things that really matter. The only thing that makes something a "crankbait" rod, is the slower action. Just because a company writes "crankbait" on the side doesn't change that. 

Daiwa Tatula rods...the original ones.  Unbelievable rods for the money.

This is fact.  Just because one company thinks a medium fast is good for a technique does not make it the right one for your liking.

I see that. Hmmm. Take a look at the zx rods then.  I prefer them anyway and they're still showing several models of those 

Can't go wrong with the Fury series, but there are a lot of options out there

St Croix has a robust lineup of models and are high quality, but be careful with technique specific rod labels/choices. Rather than trust any manufacturers opinion alone, post here what you're looking for and gather opinions to factor in with your own experience. For best results keep an open mind and willingness to mix and match brands.

I love my Powell Max and Nuisance rods.

@Catt @NYWayfarer the absurd amount of bad reviews about durability, watching them snap randomly on multiple YouTube vids, horror stories about their customer service team, owner, ect.  I have owned one (Diesel) and I'm still blown away by how great that rod was at it's price point, but it did break on me. I really want an Endurance, but all of these things have me looking elsewhere.

I test drove an Inferno for 4 months & wrote a review for another website.

 

During that time frame I didn't experience a single issue. I was so impressed I bought one.
