highly likely .... keep us posted ...

As of Monday afternoon, Skychai Racing partner Harvey Diamond left Somelikeithotbrown under consideration for the 2019 Kentucky Derby but anticipated his co-owners would "make a rational decision" about the colt's next race.

By the end of the day, however, those plans were put on hold when it was discovered the Big Brown colt suffered a sesamoid chip on his hind end when running fourth in the Blue Grass Stakes (G2). The long term prognosis isn't yet known, but Diamond described himself as "devastated" over the injury.

here is a video about the 2 races posted above.  the fellow makes these videos for the big races.  his name is Michael Pizzolla.  the handicapping software  he created and uses is about $1600 to buy.  and one has to pay for the PP's.  its on you tube so any one can watch.  he gives a short bio of himself for a few mins.  he was a member of the Sartin Methodology group back in the 70's and 80's.  the software is based on this.

I don't know much about horse racing, so the ruling didn't make much sense to me.

However, the explanation was quite specific after what seemed like a very long review.

i saw the race and couldn’t believe it when they took the win. lots of boo’s raining down afterwards. still don’t know what to make of it all.

the stewards made the right call.  and no i did not have a win bet on the colt.  the 7 went into the paths of a few horses and impeded them.  the 7 will NOT run in the preakness.   and its only 1 race out of thousands.  the Fav.  did not even finish in the money thats how wide open the race was.  one can make it up in other races.  just like at the OTB...you can listen to all the fists pound the counters/booths when there horse does not win.  and yes i had the 13 to place.  and i made several bets and got my money back.   also there were other races derby day.  and i won 2 outa 4 of those races.   now it is on to the Preakness.  no more prep races.  i tip  the Fav wins at the preakness about 45% of the time.  considering  favs win about 35~% of the time

I grew up around horse racing.  Maximum Security slid over for sure.  Whether it's intentional or not, who knows.  The number 1 horse was impeded by that move.  With 20 horses out there, and in those conditions it can get dicey.  I think they got it right.

IMHO....the call was correct and justified but many, many, many, times that call is not made.  It's no different than football where you could call a penalty on most play sets.  Notwithstanding a couple of factors in this race.  First, blocking is part of racing, it's not an infraction unless you make contact with another horse i.e., not having an open lane.  Maybe the Jockey didn't see his lane was blocked and allowed his horse to drift out or possibly it was an intentional block but I'm just saying that blocking is an accepted strategy.  His explanation that his horse spooked from the crowd is a little weak both from the standpoint, it isn't his first race and the horse went towards the crowd not away from it.  In my 3 years training, I found they spook away from perceived danger.  The consequences of one or more mounts going down at that point on the track, the conditions and the way they were bunched up would have been disastrous and I guarantee you there would have been major injuries to both mounts and riders.......possibly fatal.  Whether or not that played into the decision is anybody's guess.

The correct call given the rules, I just wish the rules were different. I see a smart jockey winning a race.  I also see this as selective enforcement as it is seldom called and very inconsistent

i have viewed 10 entries for the Preakness so far.  that could change.  i also read the under card will have some good races.  wed may 15 is the draw.  and Maximum Security  will probably run in the Haskell in July at the meadowlands.  it is also a 3YO only race.  then comes Saratoga and its 2 3YO races.

We do a family pool,,, my stepson knows NOTHING about horses,,, picks one, throws money in hat and wins EVERY DANG TIME,,, Last 3 years  He has won 7 times.  He picked frikking Country House to win Derby, Taking his arse to the track here in August when it opens.

NOT the meadowlands    MONMOUTH PARK in N Jersey

one last/ more thing on the derby:

Maximum Security jockey Saez suspended after Kentucky Derby

Stewards cited Saez's "failure to control his mount and make the proper effort to maintain a straight course thereby causing interference with several rivals that resulted in the disqualification of his mount."
Saez's suspension is listed to begin May 23 and last through June 14.
