Im in the market for a boat and thinking of a Tracker Pro 170 which is at the top of my price range ($15,000). I’ve owned a flat aluminum boat in the past and several kayaks (wishing each was a boat).

 

located in New Hampshire.

 

Any advice or recommendations?

Does your budget include or exclude add-ons like graphs, trolling motor etc? A slightly used or leftover might be a better option to get more for less. 

should still be some of the Heritage boats around..right in your price range!

Total package, I know it’ll cost more in the long run to upgrade but I can’t start out with it all so I gotta start somewhere 

Great little boat that can handle your fishing needs.

 

Consider the 90-HP outboard. The 115 will make you "Rocket Man" which can be dangerous.

 

Check the prop size. I think you want a steel 23 but ask the dealer.

 

Consider upgrading trolling motor to 80-HP or more with a 24-volt battery set up.

 

Upgrade to a three bank battery charger.

 

Add Oxygenator for live well.

 

Have fun.

Im debating on selling my Ranger, right in your price range. I live in Mass

@USMC22 Your question is tough to answer without knowing what the specifics are. Things like hp restrictions, lake size, number of people you're fishing with, and are you fishing tournaments or just for fun are questions that will help you determine what kind of boat you need. Don't forget to take into account weather. I know on some lakes I wouldn't be caught dead in anything smaller than a 18' boat because of potential for rough weather. Good luck.

You also need to consider the towing capacity of the vehicle you will be towing the boat with.

If that Ranger is for real, and it checked out ( See @slonezp post, above), I'd stop looking and write the guy a check.

In my opinion from my limited amount of time owning a boat if you are very mechanically inclined,have a variety of tools,have some experience repairing or maintaining a boat or have the money to have some one do the work I would go with an older model you will get more boat for your money otherwise go new with a tracker and warranty or something in that price range new.

I ended up getting a 2018 Lund Rebel SS with a 50hp Mercury ELPT EFI and matching trailer. Only electrics so far is a Garmin EchoMAP Plus 63cv on a ram mount.

 

Going to start a new thread with more questions and feeling a bit overwhelmed so far figuring everything out as a new boater.

Pretty sure there is I just have the two but I think you could put another one in there. If you go look at the boat you can see for sure.
