Is this Pline Fluorocarbon coated line the same thing as actual fluorocarbon?  What is the best use for this line?

No.  They are very different.  It's a great for general purpose.  A lot of people use CX interchangeably with YHB.

fluoro that I really like. Goes more slowly because I only

use 'em for leaders.

Best use - backing line for your braid...then pray you never reach the connecting knot  

CX is a co-extruded hybrid with Fluorocarbon outer jacket, the forerunner of FluoroClear. Yo-Zuri Hybrid is also a co-extruded Copoly with flourocarbon outer jacket.

FC that states 100% fluorocarbon art the premium FC lines.

I like CX Premium line.  It is a good all purpose line with a thinner diameter than mono or most other copoly lines.  However I find it struggles with top water in the same way FC does with top water.

Take a look at the line dia listed in my post Monofilament line. P-Line CX is about the diameter as Sunline and Seagaur FC line and Sunline Armilo Nylon or Super Natural mono.

I like it on my spinning rods... idk why exactly. Just feel like it's a good balance between mono and FC without the issues of running straight FC. Has great knot strength and durability for me, and casts good too. There are times I will opt to run a lighter FC leader with it though.

I really like this line so far, and have spooled it on several rods.  I use it for cranking, finesse, jerkbaits, spinnerbaits, basically everything except topwater in which I use braid.  I'm wondering if I should look to other lines or if I should just keep using this.  Seems to work pretty good so far.

If it's working for you, keep using it. If it ever starts failing you like it has for a lot of us, then consider changing. No sense wasting good money at this point in the game from the sound of it.

How did it fail?

P-line Floroclear is a decent line for the money. It’s like $15 for 600 yards. Definitely not a true fluorocarbon though. You can pick up a 300 yard spool for $8 to try it out. Not out much if you don’t like it.

Haven't tried or heard anything negative about CX, but as WRB mentioned, its cousin FluoroClear was a disaster for me. Unexplained breakoff after breakoff, with two different spools of different test lines.

I disliked the line as well.  Had a lot of stretch in 4/6/8 lb

Fluoroclear is sketchy.  I feel like it's more designed for vertical walleye fishing, like Vanish.  Neither work well for bass.  CX and CXX are very good lines.

P-Line CX is my go to line.  It's very strong for it's rating.

My buddy used to use Flouroclear until he kept seeing his lures fly Flouroclear across the lake when the line would break on the cast ?

I know they had some bad spools of floroclear out on the shelves.  I have personally not tried it but I know a lot of people who have and still continue to use it without issues. I tried #12 cxx and it stunk imo for manageability. If I’m using a non braided line I just stick with #12 or #15 big game. Hasn’t failed me yet. If it ain’t broke...

Cx premium is great for cranking, jerkbaits and it works well for poprs. Bottom baits like Texas Riggs big TRD or weightless flukes try pline tactical. Cx and tactical are the only lines I use.
