  • If that bothers you you are a tiny bit sensitive, if it bothers you enough to rant in a forum about it, yes you are way too sensitive. LOL

There's all kinds of folks, some who actually fish, and some who fish retention ponds.

What do you have against retention ponds? We have THOUSANDS of them in my area because they are an integral part of our stormwater management.

The area I fish the most is Sun City Hilton Head, a community with 290 retention ponds, most of which are connected via the stormwater system. Some of these ponds are small, and many are pretty darn big. Not bass boat sized, but still pretty big.

The fact that the fish can move from lagoon to lagoon isn't much different than the fish movement in your standard lake. In fact, without boats, electronics, and lack of cover and structure it can be quite challenging to find where the fish are on any given day let alone season to season and year to year.

It would be great if Senkos were the only thing wee needed to throw to catch bass and trophy bass (yes, we have 6-11 pound bass in our retention ponds). But the biggest ones that I have seen caught here are on live bait and jigs. Frogs land some big ones as well.

I'd venture to see if you haven't fished an ecosystem of dozens or hundreds of interconnected retention ponds you're missing out on some challenging fishing.

You go from belly aching about a guy who thinks he’s Van Dam to saying your a natural..since June. I bet you two are a riot to fish with. I’d pay to watch.

It's annoying/aggravating when we encounter people who have a lofty veiw of themselves and their said skills. Just keep learning and fishing and let him enjoy his ditch water

Buddy, I hope you see that you cancelled yourself out here. I think it goes, "There are all kinds of folks, some who fish off the boat, some who fish off the bank, some who fish lakes, some who fish retention ponds..." But, they are all fishing. In Houston, we have concrete bayous throughout the city, and you can actually catch bass in them. I can't, but there are some anglers that can even pull them on a dry fly. There is a retention pond near the bayou about 5 minutes from me that is pretty fun to try new lures on and is where I go to build my confidence on those lures.

If someone is bragging about their ability over someone else, I think that speaks more their own insecurities.  If he is just giving you a hard time, you are probably letting him. Congratulate him and do your own thing. Personally I would like to be able to pull a fish out of any body of water I try, be it river, creek, retention pond, man made lake, etc. If a Senko helps me do it, fine. Nothing wrong with using what works. But I am also not one to buy stuff to buy stuff.

That's my two cents.

He got his panties in a wad cause the guy that doesn't fish the way YouBoob® says you should schooled him in a puddle using the wrong hook for the "technique", it's all there, (and he's from Philly), but yeah, I bet just like when one is the designated driver on an epic bar hop, that would be entertaining to watch.

How is saying I might be a natural boasting or saying I'm great?  Just saying I'm surprised how well I'm doing in a short time

Oh yeah, there is only two ways that can go, and one is a train wreck for sure. I have a couple of stories guaranteed to make you fall off your stool laughing, but I can't tell them here....

And you seem to have a real issue with Philly.... I bet you just despise Ike huh?  You are something else. I definitely didn't get schooled, take any 3 fish I catch and beat out his best ten

I don't know how old you are, or anything about your life experiences, @LuffDaddy, so please don't be insulted by my offer of unsolicited advice....but, it took me a lot of years to fully learn and understand, but probably around my mid-30's I came to a stark realization....hit me like a ton of bricks and affected my outlook for the past 20+ years:

I do not and will not expend angst, nor energy worrying about the opinions that someone has of me....IF I don't generally respect their opinions. -- It was a bit of a challenge at first, but if I don't like, nor respect someone generally....well, I really don't care much about what they have to say and won't ever get my skivvies bunched about it

You are something else. If you only knew...

I definitely didn't get schooled, take any 3 fish I catch and beat out his best ten I'll take your word for it, but that is nearly impossible.

I guess you're just mad that we don't have relations with our cousins where I'm from? ???

All kidding aside, I'm not mad, upset, ticked, or have my panties in a wad. Someone's unfounded attitude simply annoyed me and I was curious if others would get annoyed too.  Ya don't have to get so personal talking about where I'm from.  Cuz yeah, I am from Philly. And no one likes us.... AND WE DON'T CARE! CUZ WERE FROM F*CKING PHILLY! WOOOOOOOOHOOO!

Ditto.

Some really good advise I got when young:

Statistically, of people you meet,

25% of folks are going to like you for the right reasons,

25% are going to like you for the wrong reasons,

25% are going to dislike you for the wrong reasons,

And 25% are going to dislike you for the right reasons,

If you're going to worry about what people think, just worry about the last 25%...

In this episode of Bassresource.com, the thread starter complains about about the Stormwater Senko Sleuth and his excessive bragging before bragging about his own impressive bass snatching skills.

I prescribe a Facebook argument followed by, "fite me tho bro!" before you both block each other.

Thanks for all the advice everyone, much appreciated. And I definitely will heed some of it. Tight lines, folks!

My Dad always said that using vulgar language proves that an illiterate mind really struggles to express itself......

Did you really have to go around the editing to drop an F bomb??  We've all already experienced your ire and angst at a guy who is bragging about his abilities by bragging on your own abilities.....

This thread cracks me up!!

Good read while eating my overpriced salad from Sweet Green.

This thread is now about overpriced salad.

The most overpriced salad I've gotten is that time I miscalculated my cast with a Zara spook along a weed line and hauled it in.

What's your favourite dressing, @Junger?

I'm surprised this hasn't been locked down yet!  The mods must be just as entertained as all of us.

It's just a matter of the mods perusing the last few posts... They'll either edit out some of the last few posts or the thread closes entirely. They don't put up with vulgar language. And neither should they. We've got kids on this forum trying to learn how to fish.

The mods aren't on this forum 24/7...

This is certainly a funky thread ?

Yeah I was hoping I could close the thread myself but either can't or just can't figure it out. Listen guys, I apologize if I offended anyone or if I came off arrogant myself in ANY way. It wasn't my intention and I look forward to being a member of this community so I really don't wanna get on everyone's bad side. Once again, my apologies to you all.

The people that have this realization, usually have it later in life and not when they are young and need it the most.

This thread evolved to the point where my opinion now is that the OP and his friend are a perfect match.
