Cheap acrylic lure paint
I use plaid and craft smart paints all the time with actually really good success. I would recommend using a commercial thinner (that’s what in do). I made my own cleaner/flush from water, wyndex, alcohol, and glycerin but I feel more confident using something made for thinning. Also, if you want one that doesn’t require thinning but is of the biggest quality, check out golden high flow acrylics. I use those for shading and detail work and they are kick ass. I’ve only been doing this for a couple months but it comes pretty easy.

Swimbait set up....
Merry Christmas everyone! My lovely wife got me a swimbait set up and I just wanted to ask everyone's opinion on a few things.... so it's a Daiwa DXSB 8' Heavy fast for 2-8 oz. Quantum Monster 300PT. My first question is line. I'm a braid to leader guy so right now I have 65 lb sufix braid and a 20 lb mono leader. Would this line be an all around good choice? My next question is bait size. I know its rated 2-8 oz, but could i throw say a 5 inch paddle on a 3/4, or should I just use one of medium heavy? Also, any suggestions of baits is much appreciated. So far I have a few livetarget, savage gear, twerk minnows, arashi glide, Ima glide fluke, and a 168 s-waver.

Curly palomar ???
I always slob it up good with saliva, pull very slow, and equally pull there tag and standing line when drawing tight. I start with a very loose overhand. Should that be more snug first?

Curly palomar ???
This might be a silly question, so sorry in advance if it is. When I tie a palomar, a lot of times the tag end and even the first couple inches of the standing line, will be curled real bad. If I run it fingers over it, it's still smooth, I can't FEEL damage.. but is it in fact damaged when this happens? I rarely use the palomar with fluorocarbon or mono but want to start to use it for some applications. Thanks for any input guys and gals!

Jig and occasional frog combo?
I don't understand spending a lot on a rod for frogging. I use a berkley shock rod I got on clearance for 10 bucks and it works well.

Pro that gives out the most Info
I was actually poking fun that EVERY lure matt uses on that channel he describes as "deadly" or that it "flat out catches fish" its just funny. But yeah, he can fish bro. So can Tim. Hell, tim little has had the world record for a spot.

Bass Pro Shops Pro Qualifier 2 Reel
I bought two this last week and they kick ass. I compared it to my carbo lite 2.0 and its very close. They are the exact same frame, spool, and side plates. Handle and knobs are different and bearing count(handle)

Lets talk cheap gear
I absolutely LOVE budget gear. I just started getting into bassin heavily back in June of last year. I now have 7 baitcasters and 4 spinning setups. Not one complete set up cost me over 150. Most i got for under 100. And I'm able to pretty much cover about technique. Always feels good knowing I put together everything i need for less than someone could spend on one combo!

4-5' squarebill
I have not had one crack or fail on me yet. They seriously are the best looking, truest running, most durable cranks I've found under $5.
-
4-5' squarebill
Already did.... Walmart got their hands on em and liquidated for $2 bucks a pop. I think I was able to get about 12

4-5' squarebill
I second this... I absolutely love the squarebull (now the pitbull). That bait gets bit A LOT and the fusion 19s are real deal holyfield. My next two favorite / recommendations are Yamamoto chikara crankbait and absolutely H2O express CRS crankbait (got my PB on one) which are only 3/4 bucks and come with black nickel vmc hooks

Keitech 3.8 swimbait jig head
I've had good success with strife king squadrons in 1/8 and 1/4. You can get em anywhere including Walmart. Only other jighead I've used with it was bass assassin and they got it done. I believe both use gammy hooks, wide gap. I usually use berkley fusion 19 swimbait hooks. Those are GREAT hooks....

Keep bait straight on straight shank
You are actually pretty much right except you don't need the toothpick. I tugged HARD on the bait and that keeper is actually insanely good. I can't believe I didn't realize the design from the get go. Makes perfect sense. A heavy, dull barb facing back at the bait and a smaller one opposite of it. I've seen most pics of flippin hooks with the same design and I can see why now! I figured, I was just busting your chops. No hard feelings I hope!

Keep bait straight on straight shank
I guess you didn't read the whole post? ??? Thanks for the advice though!

Keep bait straight on straight shank
So yeah I'm just stupid..... I was staring at a flippin hook when it hit me like a eureka moment! (Even though I know it should've been common sense hahaha) I think of a keeper like an old school bait keeper for nightcrawlers, so I kept stubbornly thinking the keeper stays IN THE BAIT. Then I realized the two barbs actually sit flush at a 45 degree angle and I just had to pull the keeper THROUGH the bait so it was on the OUTSIDE OF THE BAIT... ?♂️?♂️?♂️?♂️

Keep bait straight on straight shank
I actually did, the weight just ends up pushing it over like that once you bring it down ?♂️. I'm thinking it just is what it is
