Is it feasible to go with one brand of soft plastics for all your needs, ie: Zoom, Strike King, Roboworm, Iovino, etc. Do any of you guys do this? Will it work?

Can you do it, yes. will it work, yes. Do I do it, no.

  • Perhaps ~   For instance Strike King has a fairly wide variety of most every 'type' of soft plastic. From swimbaits, grubs, stickbait & worms to drop shot baits, creatures, craws & y

For me, it is impossible to go with all one brand of soft plastics. Long ago, i surpassed ‘actual need’ and entered the realm of need based on  Uncontrollable Want, and Uncontrollable Want doesn’t see

I fish Zoom 4"Dead Ringers a lot.  Between Zoom products and Reaction Innovations they cover the majority of my needs.

Now, for nostalgia's sake on several trips I like to throw the Rebel Ringworm.

Whitwolf, you have shown me how to be a true tackle aficionado.  My wife spells that word "h-o-a-r-d-e-r."

Great post: the picture is worth a thousand words.

Oh yeah: as far as brand goes, I have no loyalty to anyone.  One of my favorite things about bass fishing is experimentation and learning.  I love and fish GY, Kietech, Jackall, SK/Rage, Zman, Zoom, Yum,  NetBait, Big Bite, RI, Missile (love Missile's stuff - smells great), Roboworm, Gulp, Powerbait, Berkley, yep... ALL of them.

So, which brand are you going to use?

I'm looking into Strike King and am considering keeping some of my old GYCB and Roboworm worms.

I'm in the west, California, where finesse is the predominant style. Except for places like the Delta and Clear Lake.

The bass club I fished in years ago and considering rejoining fishes a lot of clear water lakes, Berryessa, New Melones, Pardee, Tulloch, McClure, to name a few.

I spoke with a member and he said to keep it simple. Green, Browns, and Shad colors. So that's where I'm going to start.

For Greens, Green Pumpkin and Watermelon.

For Shad, Translucent, Smoke or White.

For Brown, the only real Brown I have is PB&J which is not a truly brown worm. I've looked at Cinnamon and Oxblood, but depending on the brand these don't seem to be truly brown, they tend to look red.

I would add Black, June Bug, and something like Morning Dawn as well.

Any comments would be appreciated!

Yamamoto's cinnamon is a light earthworm color.  It is brown though.

For your brown try the GYCB Cinnamon.

(Wow! It looks like Toxic and I were typing at the same time.)

Variety is the spice of life! Or so they say.

Personally, I have a handful of favorite companies, a few that have a variety of plastics that I like, and a bunch of companies that I only use a single plastic from.

I have a passion for smaller, less mainstream companies. I actively avoid the big box brands like Zoom, Strike King Berkley, etc. I have more fun finding other, and typically better, options.

To each their own! Some people go to Wal-Mart and call it good. Half the fun is the search for me: online research, review scouring, etc.

I recently stuck with mainly YUM brand soft plastics. They have a wide variety of different baits in a bunch of colors which all flat out catch fish, and the best part is almost every single pack is $2.99.

There are times when I want a soft plastic that floats, other times one that has a lot of salt. There are a couple of companies that I rely on for one or the other, but I haven't found one that offers both.

I got nostalgic recently and bought a bunch of Creme scoundrels.   Did amazing.  Mostly I fish Zoom products, but a little of everything,  Yum, Yamamoto,  Rage tail, Grande Bass,...
