I’ve noticed KastKing braid doesn’t get recommended or even mentioned much. I saw a thread from 2015, but not much else. I’ve been using it for a few months and I haven’t had any issues with it.

 

I used to use PowerPro, but I wanted a brighter color, like yellow. I didn’t like the yellow Super 8 Slick PowerPro. KastKing was cheaper and came in yellow, so I gave it a try. I’ve seen a couple comments about the color bleeding and I don’t even know what that means. The color fades, but it fades on PowerPro too. I haven’t seen the yellow bleeding on to anything.

 

In the 10#, it seems the PowerPro might be like 1-2# stronger than the KastKing, and might maintain its strength a little longer. I think PowerPro is superior overall, but after taking price and color into account, I’m not disappointed with the KastKing. I like it better than Spiderwire.

 

I know other people are using it. Has it got a bad rep here?

I use 10 and 15 pound kastpro on my spinning rods.

To me it seems just as strong as power pro.

 

I only have 1 issue with it.

It is so limp, that if you get much twist in the line it is susceptible to wind knots. More so than power pro.

I think you might be right about that. It does seem like I have been having more wind knots, but I was attributing it to something else. I was getting knots with power pro too, but maybe not as much.

I use #20-40 Kastking Superpower braid on my baitcasters. Green and gray colors. No complaints from me. It’s good and cheap which is an oxymoron. Especially if you buy them it in smaller spools like I do off of Kastking EBay.

I have it on about 15 different rods, so you could say I like it fairly well. Price is great, strength is good, it fades but I don't think it is noticeable faster than other inexpensive braids.

Thanks for bringing this up as Ive been doing a lot of braid shopping and planning to switch from mono. I see a 1095 yard spool of KastKing yellow for $30, the same price as 300 yard spools for others. I don’t need that much but having it on hand will help me respool sooner with fresh line.

I use the 4 carrier KK braid in 10-50 lb , no issues.

The only KastKing braid I liked after trying a few has been the KastPro, its not the smoothest line but it's strong. Cautious though, it bleeds badly and gets on your gear.

 

You should try Daiwa 8x J-Braid, super smooth and strong. 

This past summer I bought two spools of Kastpro in 15# & 30# for trial on spinning and baitcasting respectively.  The pros are the price, strength, variety of colors, and overall performance.  However, I noticed two cons.  First, while spooling it on my baitcaster, I was using my hand to guide the line into the reel to make sure the far left/right sides of the spooled with every pass. When I did this, the part of my finger turned blue from the dye in the line.  With that said, I wouldn’t say the line fades unusually fast. The second thing that I noticed is how slick the line was when I casted heavy baits. I had to apply more pressure on the spool with my thumb when casting heavy baits. Otherwise the spool felt like it would slip under my thumb as I made my cast. 

For inexpensive braid I've had better luck with Goture 500M Braided Fishing Line 8 STRANDS Super Strong Saltwater Fishing Line than with Kastking. Goture will fade as will all of them but it is not messy. I've pulled 38" striper on 10lb braid with this. I get it on Ebay.

I've just been using the SuperPower, not the KastPro, which has a coating. I assume the coating is what is coming off, or 'bleeding'.

What the heck is a bio solvent? Maybe it never dries.

 

My only experience with coated braid was the Super 8 Slick PowerPro, and I didn't like it because the coating seemed kind of sticky, like the line wanted to stick together on the spool. It seemed like it slowed the release from the spool, reducing casting distance.
