Question , you think fish would be picky enough to choose the floro over the co poly? I use sunline sniper and p line tactical and good luck with both ,but for price sake looking at the advanced mono of suffix 10 or 12 pound most of the time and 17 pound for swimbaits. Think the copolymer will work as well as the floro?

The only time I opt for fluorocarbon over co-poly is if I need sink rate.  Even debatable to a degree if fluorocarbon is really that much of a difference in that regard - compared to a co-poly that might be 50% fluorocarbon composition.  

 

Visually I don’t think much of a difference, co-poly IMO is stronger, better knots and in many cases stretches less than fluorocarbon.  Oh yes, and less of a rats nest threat.  

 

FWIW I have Sniper on one rod for drop-shotting and Yo-Zuri Hybrid on 4-5 other rods for a variety of applications.  

The fish are probably not picky enough, but I am  Use whatever you feel most comfortable with. For me, it's fluoro all day, every day.

Something i've noticed about the Stren Fluorocast fluorocarbon is that the 17lb for flipping and throwing a rigs when i use Clinch knots it chafes right above the knot. its the only line i have problems with doing that so im not quite sure why id does that.

I don't think the fish are going to tell a difference in the clarity so much as the line diameter. If the water is clear enough to matter I think lighter line would matter more. I fish a lake with 10ft visibility and do perfectly fine with 12lb copolymer with slow moving baits.

Believed in fluoro until I broke my leader off using a Ned Rig and had to fish it on straight braid. Catch rate didn't go down and I even got bigger fish after that. Of course straight braid didn't cause me to catch bigger fish, but that coincidence happened and I learned that it really doesn't matter to a degree*

 

*if we're talking 8-15lb braid it's already so thin it doesn't matter. 

 

I'm all about copolymer for the most part anyways now. 

With my plastics, its Floro all day long except in heavy thick Vegetation where I use heavy braid.  I love Floro, it sinks, super sensitive, strong for its size, and abrasive resistant.  Not all Floros are the same quality, I use Trilene Professional Grade.  Expensive but worth the price.  I have tried about 10 other brands and always go back.

I use the fluoro for only a few things, all bottom contact baits, and I don't use it for all my bottom contact baits. It's more for sensitivity than visibility for me as we have very few lakes I'd consider even relatively clear. 

I use fluoro for most applications but it has more to do with sensitivity and the fact that it sinks than it's visibility, or lack thereof. I think in super clear, highly pressured waters that might play a factor but those conditions don't exist where I live. When I don't use fluoro I use copoly.

Either way I'd say you'll be fine, but I'm a fan of sunline assassin. Btw, American legacy fishing has sunline products 25 percent off right now.

I'd say you're not wetting the knot enough or you're over tightening the line.  I mean you might be pulling the knot using 50# of pressure...  I fish will never pull that hard.
