It would be interesting to see how the Ultrex compares to these three.

I love my Ultrex, It is a huge step up from the Fortrex, but there is room for improvement..

That was an excellent video and discovery. Thanks, Glenn. I stumbled across this from YouTube and even though I don’t have a boat and have no need for a trolling motor, you had me hook line and sinker in the first few minutes. It would

be interesting to see if lowrance will do something to dampen the noise.  

Thanks. I still say; "Buyer Beware". These units are ONLY are compatible with certain electronics!! You may have to upgrade your fish-finders! $$$$$$

More research please.

For now, I'll stay with Minn-Kota. They are 'trying' to work with all fish finder mfgs.

 

 

Very interesting video. Thanks for doing the direct comparison Glen. I was waiting for someone to do a comparison between them since all the ICAST 2019 videos came out.

 

As someone with and older cable steer MotorGuide 75lb on a 16ft boat I am watching all these units go head to head with keen interest.

 

I would be interesting to see the comparison with the current Minn Kota Ultrex like previous posters both here and on YouTube mentioned.

The Ultrex is an older model that wasn't debuted at this year's ICAST.  This video compares the newest motors.

Good video @Glenn! I don’t know how much sound scares fish, but I think having a quiet motor is probably a good thing, and that Lowrance Tm was LOUD! 

Like I replied in another post, the fact that you can’t run a Lowrance in brackish water or it voids the warranty, rules it out for a lot of us on the coasts, or the delta, or any tidal waters because they are considered brackish.  If they don’t address that issue, it carves out a big part of their target market.  How will the pros handle the tournament trails where there are a lot of brackish rivers.  They are on the Historic James River right now and that is brackish.  As soon as these hit the market, they better make it very clear that you can’t use them on brackish waters or the pr nightmares will begin.  

Now i know why Ike seems so stoked on the lowrance TM....it might actually muffle the sound of him yelling!!

Don't think Lowrance will be too happy regarding the noise issue. Listening it's hard to determine if it's motor or prop noise, regardless it's noise.

Without going back and reviewing the vedio's I recall Motor Guide unit can be switched to operate on 24V or 36V power source. Both Garim and Lowrance are 36V units.

Actually it's the Lowrance Ghost that can switch between the two.  Mike shared with me it's 96lbs of thrust at 24v, and 130lbs at 36v.  So theoretically, you could go on 24v all day unless you're fighting wind/current, or need to move that fast.

Lowrance was my first thought and changed it to Motor guide, thank you correcting me.

Lot boats operate with 24V battery set ups,adding a third TM battery in my boat for example would be very difficult.

I would really like to know if all of these videos were taken with motors all at the same speed settings... noise generated by trolling motors changes drastically from say setting 3 to setting 6. And yes, I would also love to know where the  Ultrex falls in this...

Just thinking to buy a new motor and this gives us more info.

Thinking then you have to pay this much money they should work perfectly.

But going from a 12v Motorguide to a Garmin Force is more an the money for the motor, you have to change the system, more battery mm

 

For me this three motors are for “payed” fisherman's. Not the the publics  

 

 

If you fish brackish water, you can eliminate the Ghost. Using it in brackish water will void the warranty. Lowrance describes brackish water as fresh water meeting salt water.

You might go into which brand units each trolling motor is compatible with.  Do all three have the jog feature from anchor mode?  Do all three allow marking waypoints on the TM itself?  Do all three allow directional point and go feature?

They're all very clever, but other than spot lock I bet 90% of bass anglers won't use any of the features. 

 

A budget cable steer model, with spotlock is what the bass market really needs. The company that brings a $1500 unit out will be the winner. I'm surprised Motorguide missed the mark so badly, their's could have been the market leader  had it not been $1000 too expensive.
