Need help

Featured Replies

I need help to identify what kind of fish this is. I have never seen anything like this before and I was wondering if anyone else had seen one like this.

Looks like a bowfin (grinnel). They’re native and put up one heck of a fight. Have had a few baits completely torn up over the years by them :)

I have to agree with my two compatriots - that definitely looks like a Bowfin.

I agree with everyone else, looks like a Bowfin, awesome fight when hooked up with them!

Thanks ya'll. I caught him in the chattahoochee river. I tossed him back because I was unsure of what he was and I didn't know if it was good eating or not. I want to thank all of you for the info back on this.

Bowfin, dogfish, or grinnel.  Take your pick.  I noticed you put it on a stronger.  Did you attempt to eat it?
