Avid x vs legend tourney bass

Featured Replies

Is there a big difference in sensitivity between the two considering the price?

I found my LTB casting rods to be too tip heavy for me. I found the  avid x are a little better balanced. LTB Rods are really well made but the two I had were too unbalanced for me so I moved on from them.

i think some models maybe different as far as feel/balance goes.

I've owned Avid Xs and Legend Bass and I'll admit I didn't feel a tremendous step up in quality or sensitivity for the extra money of the Legend Bass.  Not enough to wow me at least.

You do take a HUGE step backwards with balance on Legend Bass rods. They are ridiculously tip heavy. Avid Xs are much better in that department because of the micro guides. I honestly have sold most of my Legend Bass rods because I literally got fatigued fishing them all day.

I have some Legend X rods and the balance is amazing, but they also have torzite and the blanks are way lighter.

I'd really recommend either going with the Avid X or jumping up to Legend X. Unless you like super tip heavy rods.

I agree with most of this. I have the newest LTB in 6’8” MH casting and find it much much better than the previous generation. I didn’t care for the reel seat on the last gen either.

I can't speak too much for the Avid X but I have a couple of the regular Avids and one of the LTB's.  The LTB is a several years old and 3 of the Avids I have are also about the same age.  There is a distinct difference between these rods in sensitivity and feel.  I did purchase an Avid last year though and this newer version feels less stiff at the tip and much more like the older LTB.  If I had to choose a new rod, I would probably get another Avid.

So they didn't fix the tip heaviness on the redesign?  I've owned so many rods over the years that I felt the reel seat just needed to be moved up the blank an inch or so.

No, the new Legend tournament bass generation is still as tip heavy as the old. I had several from each generation.

I really wanted to like the LTB series. They look great, have nice components, and are really nicely assembled but every one I’ve tried or owned was so tip heavy I wasn’t able to fish them for too long. Maybe it’s all that blue paint on them, maybe the blank? Who knows.

now my Legend Walleye ML spinning rod is the opposite. Great balance and comfort for long days. Great reel seat, taper, and sensitivity.

one of the best fishing rods I have.

Doesn’t the Legend Walleye have the same blue paint?

I have the 5’10” Legend Bass Skippin rod and absolutely love it.

I does! Might be the action? type of rod? Design? Who knows why?

Maybe full cork vs split grip?

I have too many SC rods (just ask my wife). All the way from Mojo Bass to Legend Elite's and Legend Xtreme's and IMO the best bang for the buck is the Avid/Avid X series.  Yes the more expensive rods are more sensitive but the point of diminishing returns starts to kick in again IMO after the Avid series.
