Hi, I’m looking for a reel to throw some 3-4 ounce glidebaits for example the deps bullshooter 160, I’m wondering if I could get away with using a Daiwa Tatula 200 while throwing these baits, or maybe even a Shimano Citica? Any ideas?

I have 5 Calcutta Conquest 400A's for my big bait applications for many reasons.

I just asked this same question and ended up getting a Daiwa Lexa 300 Winn from ALF for this application.

I love my Daiwa Lexa Type-WN 300 6.3:1 for all my current swimbaits.

I have not got the rod yet.  It is between these 2:  Heavy Daiwa DX Swimbait Rod or Dobyns Fury 806SB.

I think the tatula 200 would work just fine. I fish some decent sized glide baits on a lews super duty and have never had any problems.  I think the rod is much more important for handling big baits assuming you get a decent quality reel with enough line capacity 

I use the Tat 200 (6.3) for my swimbaits. Works great. Sportsman's Outfitters has it marked down to $109.99 right now. Hard to beat that price.

You can definitely get away with using a 200 size reel, but if you're planning to throw swimbaits quite a bit I'd recommend stepping up to a 300. The Tranx has been my favorite by far, but a lot of guys do prefer the round reels as noted above. 

Depends on the line diameter you choose and the distance you normally cast. 

I wouldn't use any reel under 300 size for swimbaits over 2 oz.

Swimbait fishing with larger size reels requires longer more powerful rods, you don't Palm swimbait reels unless you have big strong hands.

After you make your long cast and start the retreive a high percentage of strikes occur similar to jig or worm fishing slow movements within 10 yards from the start, the bass is over 40 yards away and you need to hook it and control the big bass. You don't want a half full spool of line with 16-18 IPT that a small reel has at the end of a cast.
