So I've been cleaning my own reels for the past 4 or 5 years. I own mostly Daiwas and they seem to like to tighten their screws down pretty tight from the factory. I've stripped a few trying to get them out the first time and I'm looking to get a set of screwdrivers that are actually the right size to hopefully avoid this going forward. Right now I'm working on a Tatula CT Type R. Does anyone know the specific size required for the two screws shown below? As you can see I had a hell of a time with one of them lol. 

Nope.  But I bought a Wiha Precision Screwdriver kit that had been suggested to me just in case I one day decide to save a ton of money by working on my own reels. 

Like above, Wiha or Wera, make great tools for this. 

I only use Wera Lasertip screwdrivers when working on my reels. They don't slip and strip your screws.

Philips in the  350 PH (PH 0 by 60) and flathead 335. These are for most small screws on reels.

For larger sizes I would recommend size 1 drivers.

I use a Wheeler gunsmithing screwdriver set on my reels. I also throw away reels with plastic gears.

Wera Phillips 00 fits that particular head perfectly. I've been using the wera precision set for years now. For as many reels I have to work on, the 25$ for the set was beyond worth it. 

Everyone should have a set of Wiha or Wera precision drivers. Size 00 will handle pretty much every reel I own 

The top circled screw head is toast, you need to contact Daiwa and order replacements and ask them what size and type of driver to use.

Torx vs Phillips for example look similar in small sizes.

So you'd toss a Steez or Antares in the trash?

Most reels are gonna have lighter plastic gears in areas that don't need to hold up to high stress, like the level wind.

Yea I got the replacement screws already, I just didn't want a repeat with the new ones haha.

Totally agree - everyone needs a set of small precision screw drivers.   Might as well get a couple of sets, so that one stays at your work bench, one stays in the boat where you might need it from time to time.  I keep another set in my home office desk, just so that I don't have to go looking for the set when I start to fiddle with something at my desk.

While you're at it, might as well get a set of small precision pliers, both needle nose (straight and angled ), flat crimpers and so forth.  Several sets, stashed next to the small drivers, will save time when you go to look for them.

While you're at it, a few pairs of small vise grips come in handy from time to time, . . ..  there isn't any end to how many tools you "need".

I've got a kobalt small screwdriver that has 4 bits with different sizes on both ends that I've used for years on reels and have never had a problem...knock on wood. I'd definitely invest in some if you're stripping the heads on the screws

I wouldn't have to because I'd never buy either one. If it's got plastic I don't want it.
