Shimano to the rescue

Featured Replies

January and reel cleaning time.  Started with my three Curado 200E7's and all went well until I finished with all of the parts on number 3 (cleaning, polishing and lubing) and as I was gently snugging down the pawl cap suddenly I had two pieces.  No problem I thought, so I go on the Shimano parts at the Fish Shop and the 200E7 is no longer listed, so on the phone I go with Shimano in Irvine, CA with a 15 minute wait to get a rep and explain my problem and part number.  He looks up the part number and says that although the part is not on the site we have them in stock how many do you want and you will have them in a week and no charge.  So two are on the way.   A great company.?and my wife does not have to hear me rant:dance: LOL

Thats awesome!! You always hear people complaining about customer service (rightfully so most times)

so it's good to hear of examples of the good experiences

It's kinda a bummer though that it's not listed online, this was their website you went on or third party?

On the Shimano Fish Shop for parts.  The Curado 200 E has disappeared from the Curado category for parts.  Mine are 8 and 9 years old,

Glad you had a good a experience.

I love their reels but my dealings with their in house customer service and repair was less than stellar.  I always thought they were a good bunch of guys but they always seemed understaffed and overwhelmed with work.

I love my Shimano 200 Ds. And they can be used as a club or paperweight in a ponch.

X2, bulky by today’s standard, but solid and reliable reels. I pulled maintenance a little while ago on a couple of mine. Original drag washers were toast and still worked. E series parts can be found more readily, just takes a little more effort to locate ‘em.

I send mine to DVT every coupke years for a teardown. I think they're pretty indestructable.
