Blue Marsh Lake Pennsylvania

Featured Replies

Has anyone fished Blue Marsh here? Just started fishing there last year. It was a grind trying to learn how to catch them deep and read my graphs. Often times I’m not sure whether to hit the no-wake zones or main lake. Any tips appreciated.

Check out Due North Fishing on Facebook or Instagram! Mitch started guiding on Blue Marsh last year, is always on the lake and shares some great insight on how to catch fish the lake. He just put together a great bag there yesterday.

I’ve also been researching the lake. I’m going to spend some time there this year. LOTS of potential.

Yeah you have to dial in the off-shore game, and your electronics. It is a tough lake with a ton of pressure, and little visible cover. Not to mention there is practically no grass in the lake.

Yeah I have heard of him, I’m tempted to book a half day just to pick his brain.

I fished with Mitch for a couple hours just to get into someone else’s mind if you will. I called upon him to help with offshore fishing and that was our focus. I learned a lot, mostly recognizing structures that just looked like graphing errors to me and a couple of good spots to boot. I highly recommend him.

The PFBC has GPS locations for man made structures they’ve placed. Just do a search on the PFBC site. They’re not 100% accurate but if you put them in your FF and do a little searching, you’ll find them.

I get frustrated with that lake easily because of all of the pleasure boaters.  People will literally come within 15 feet of you just to see what you’re doing and god forbid they see you catch a fish, it’s turns into first day of trout fishing.

The solution of course is to head to the no-wake...until someone blows by you because they do not know the rules or simply do not care.

The lake also gets an extreme algae bloom in the summer. It negatively affects the fishing as oxygen gets lower so do keep that in mind.

Craig, im tempted to do the same and book a day with Mitch would love to gain some new insight on the lake. And You’re Absolutely right about the pleasure boaters and jet ski riders, they’re everywhere. At times I’ve even felt unsafe to say the least, not to mention the extreme fishing pressure it receives. Seems like there is a tournament every other day. I honestly wish there were other lakes without a horsepower restriction nearby; I may have to venture up to wallenpaupack this year.
thanks, adam

Has anyone in this thread had much luck for bass in there last year? I went with a guy who fishes a few weeknight events there and got pretty much skunked on the day. I had a chunky bluegill hit a whopper plopper and he caught a smallie on a drop shot. Granted it was the backend of summer. Most of my fishing will be in here as it is the closest, no HP restriction, lake around me.

When I go it’s hit or miss. Never caught anything huge there but, have had good days. If they kill off the weeds good luck getting on fish without FFS. The water at full pool seems to be better than when they draw it down in past experience. I’m by no means an expert there and do get skunked. Feel free to PM me if you have any more questions
