I know a couple guys in Illinois that have mounted 6.5 pound LMs.  I can tell you that a good friend of mine has Illinois/Indiana tournaments since he was a young child (backboating with his dad) and he just caught his PB last summer at 6.5 pounds.  But I also know guys who have caught 8-9 pound bass in nearby lakes.  That has left me wondering when I will order a replica.  I have it in my head at about 7.5 pounds.  We shall see.

I have mine at 7 I think

Here in northern Indiana if I catch a 3 pounder I’m in static lol but I would consider a 5 pounder here a real trophy

5 pound largemouth?

I live in n.e Ohio and anytime you break 5 that's where I start considering the term trophy bass for our area. Every year I boat a few 5s many 3 and 4 pound fish and my p.b is 8.4 yes from Ohio. If you fish enough jigs you will come across a few trophy sized fish every year.

Where’d you get the 8?

Got it in a pond. But if you fish any of the portage lakes around Akron every year fish up to 8# come out of them and theirs always rumors around town of bigger getting caught. If I was looking for a giant in South east Ohio it would be piedmont. We have caught some pretty serious largemouth and smallmouth while saugeye fishing it

I consider a fish over 5 to be a big one, over 7 is a special fish in Kansas, state record is a little under 12.

In my opinion anything over 6#s is Hawg status!

No matter where you live!

6 lbs has always been the first goal for bass anglers to reach.

Then it's each pound after that with a double digit the holy grail.

You make no sense.

Looks like Ohio lists a 20" bass as a trophy so i would start there.  I have caught 20" bass that can vary in weight by 1-2 lbs so your mileage may vary.

As far as mounting goes, that is your call.  I have caught a couple pretty bug bass for her win VA, one measured just shy of 26" but i neglected to get a replica or anything because I know there are bigger ones out there.  Of course that was caught 5-6 years ago and I have yet to replicate the feat but that doesn't keep me from trying.

Depending on which lake I caught it in, I strongly suspect I would do the same with a 7.

I'd say in Ohio, especially up north I would say 7lb or bigger would be a "trophy".
