My son recently moved to Savannah Georgia I have only fished there once it’s a 2.5 hour drive from his home it was late October we didn’t do very well but it was worth the trip to check it out In my researching a lot of people have reported great smallmouth fishing in march even watched videos Scott Martin made at that time (march) Brandon Palaniuk another Pro took some good videos too so yea I think it would be worth your time to check it out and your absolutely correct Florida is a long drive from NJ

Sounds to me like not enough line on the spool Im not great at baitcasters so I use my spinning rods a lot

Well hopefully you didn’t get hurt in any way but your guides should be ok as long as the inserts didn’t pop out if they have them inspect those carefully

I’m 55 years old I only have 2 baitcaster combos and about 15 spinning combos. I use my spinning for every kind of presentation and lures I’m working on learning to use the baitcaster more, but just so partial to the spinning set up so don’t feel alone. If I had to fish for a living it might be a different story but it works for me
