Wife told me today that if she's spending significant time on the boat this spring in summer that I must mount a stereo, she's gotta have music.

 

Well since I can't sing, ran to Walmart and grabbed a Bluetooth speaker.

Shouldn't that suffice for some low volume country ?......she likes Kenny Chesney and the Dixie Chicks. Lol

 

I'm to old for that teeth jarring " wake boat " kinda stuff.

So seriously, what better option than a Bluetooth speaker that I simply keep on the boat with a charger ?

I'm fine with music in the boat just as long as others don't have to hear it.  Too often, people crank it up and other people are subjected to it.

 

I personally would rather listen to the sounds of nature most of the time while I'm out there.

I'd catch a lot fewer fish if I listened to anything on the water.   

 

I fish a heavy Shad lake, hearing or seeing blowups are a great way to get of fish in a hurry.

No doubt agree and have never once listened to music in many years of fishing.

I've listened to tunes in the boat regularly.  I don't do it much nowadays while I'm bass fishing, but years ago when I did a lot more slip bobber fishing for walleyes, we almost always had the radio going...on low volume of course.  It was more of a 'passive' way of fishing; toss out the bobber, kick the feet up, crack open a beer, and wait for it to go down.  I don't really do much of that anymore.

I had a stereo system installed in my old 19' ChampioN bass boat. Loved it and listened often........... until.

 

One summer day I was fishing and it was hot, I mean satan's arm pit hot. I dove in to cool off a little. While under water I could hear the bass from the stereo and I didn't have it cranked up. I never turned it on again while fishing. It's also the only boat that I've had a radio on.

I prefer headphones or earbuds.  It keeps other people from having to listen to my music, which is most definitely in the "aquired taste" category.  Plus it helps not to scare the fish.

 

That being said, a small, cheap Bluetooth speaker would be the way to go if you don't want to go through the cost and hassle of installing a permanent system.  They sound pretty decent and if it gets destroyed, you're not out much money.  Plus it would double for other uses like gardening or working on your car.

My boat came with a sterio system, nothing fancy but doesn't sound to bad...I rarely use it !!!  If we go out for fireworks then the radio is snyc'd to the fireworks, if on a lazy cruise we might have it on, fishing...rarely unless I need a weather update or want to listen to the nascar race. Have had a radio in most of my boats but only rarely do they get used.....

I use a bose bluetooth speaker. It works great. I generally always have some form of music playing or pod cast on. 

Can't go wrong with a decent bluetooth speaker, they usually have really good battery life, I invested in a nice Bose that I used on my old boat, and now just keep in my SUV. Now I have a built-in bluetooth unit on my boat and I use it quite a bit, but it just depends on my mood, if I'm serious fishing, or fun fishing with friends/family. But if I'm on the water at sunrise, never...I just like to soak it all in first thing in the morning with a nice cup of coffee or morning stogie.

I wish I could. All I hear is power plants, highways or trains. All times of day or night.

My main lake is right next to an Air Force base, so we get tons of low flying jets flying overhead.  So music would probably be okay, but you'd have to pause your podcast every 10 minutes or so, or risk getting lost.

Love me some Van Halen in the mornings coming across the dam. Only sick-os and psychopaths bring bluetooth speakers to bank fish, so I have some cheap wireless earbuds for hockey games and such. I wear a bandanna that covers my ears up under my hat, so the risk of them coming out at a bad time is minimal.
I think if I had a bass boat I'd have some speakers that got loud enough for me to hear when running in boat lanes. But I think I would want it juuuuust loud enough for me to hear it at the trolling motor after getting off plane. I want to hear blowups, van halen, and my own thoughts. These wake boaters who roll up to the ramp blasting R. Kelly make me want to steal their drain plugs

I don’t fish the one area much but, the runway for HIA is pretty much in the river.

I’ve got friends that believe it attracts the fish in, not blasting just the low vibrations….Me…. If I’m big bass hunting, I turn off all electronics, lift the trolling motor and pole in the area, …..ghost style.
