Daiwa TWS And Braid, Opinions

Featured Replies

I have a couple Daiwa baitcast reels with TWS. I run braid on both reels, one has 40lb and the other has 30lb braid.

What is the consensus if braid damages the TWS system. I hear the braid running thru the TWS and I guess it bothers me.

Would I he better off spooling the copolymer I like? P-Line CXX, 10lbs?

I have a bunch of TWS reels and I tie my leaders so they never go in the reel. The knot ends up between the reel and the closest guide when in casting position. No issues.

I don't have any tws but I'm assuming you're running 4 carrier braid. Switching to a 8 or higher carrier with the soft coating such as smackdown may lessen the sound.

I have several TWS reels. 2 have braid..I use 50 lb Smackdown, I can not see or hear any wear on either of them. I think If, there was a problem with using braid on them, there would be a disclaimer possibly.

No issues with mine. Can't imagine any rod or reel makers anymore making a product that would be damaged by braid with it's popularity now.

When Tatula first came out FC line was putting grooves in the twing that issue was fixed.

Want a quiet braid get Super8slick quieter than smackdown costs less and better knot strength.

I also have 2 reels with tws, spooled with 30# and 50# sufix 832 for about a year. No problems

i have a couple reels with TWS, i have only used 8-carrier braid on them but i have not noticed any adverse effects other then a little more noise then some off my shimanos

I use straight braid on all my TWS reels, from 20 lb up to 60 lb, Sufix and PowerPro.  I have no issues at all.

I too have had no issues with my TWS reels.  I know some of the early T3-based reels had issues with grooving of the hood that covered the TWS, but this was fixed by putting a non-wearing bar in under the plastic that prevented the braid from touching it.

The sound of braid going through Bantam MGL is much louder than my TWS reels.

I run almost exclusively braid to leader and have no issues with the T-wing other than knots hanging up on it (I just run shorter leaders i those reels).
