Battery Help

Featured Replies

What's a good battery that wont break the bank for a 55lb trolling motor.

If you are looking for a standard lead acid battery several will do the trick.  Look for RC (reserve capacity).  Get the highest number in your price range.  I wouldn’t go below 180 RC if it were me.

I'll give them a look. I just wanna find something that will run nice for a 6-7 hour day.

Everstart maxx group 29. $100 at Walmart. I've had one for 4 years and still holds a good charge. I run my 55lb motor with it all day and have never ran out of juice.

Are you suppose to keep it on the charger all winter long when your not using it?

Sorry for the dumb questions, all this boat and battery stuff is new to me lol.

When I pack up the canoe to store it for winter - the battery comes out and goes into the basement. I top off the charge then just let it sit for the 5 months. When spring comes around, back on the charger it goes. A good battery won't drain off in a few months of sitting with nothing connected to it.

Top off the battery when you store it and top off the charge monthly.

A cheap battery is more likely to break the bank.
