Daiwa Fuego LT 2500 D-XH Spinning Reel

Featured Replies

Guys, I stopped by a local pawn shop and they had a NIB Daiwa Fuego LT 2500 D-XH spinning reel that I can get for $ 50.00 OTD.  I examined the reel and it does appear NIB.  I'm primarily a Shimano guy but do any of you guys have this reel and what have your experiences been with it?  It would be paired with a SC Avid 68MXF spinning rod.  TIA.....Randy

Pretty solid reel, some have uneven line lay which is easily corrected by adding a washer, others whine about the reel flexing due to not being metal framed, not an issue for bass. Mine's been going three years now with no problems and still smooth as silk, line laid great out of the box. Totally worth $50 if it's new if you ask me.

Thanks @Bassjam2000 for the reply.  I thought for the $$ it seemed pretty solid.

Mine has been great, as said above sometimes the line lay needs to be adjusted, no big deal. Well worth the 50.00, but I'd offer 40.00...

Just picked one out for my father in law. Based on what I found it seemed solid and comparable to shimano Sahara. Came with washers for adjusting the spool height. Felt nice, obviously I dont have any real performance comments for you but I would get one for myself if I needed a new reel (or maybe upgrade to feugo LT which Ive heard plenty of good things about).

Thanks for the reply @Vilas15.  I'm a huge Sahara fan but I thought for the price I would try this Daiwa.

I own a Sahara too, I don't use it much cuz it doesn't have the anti reverse like the Fuego does.

@Hammer 4, I have never used the anti reverse.  My older Shimano's have it but as I said never felt the need to use it??

Yes, the older shimano's had it, the newer reels don't. I use the anti reverse every now and then. Both are good reels, but the older shimano's imho are better.

Had a 3k, spooled unevenly out the box. Had to add 2 washers even then I didnt like how it line layed. Other than the line lay issue, smooth as silk.

Well I bought it and put some braid on it.  It seemed like it laid the line down ok which I was concerned about.  Some folks worried me about the flexing but I guess we'll see.

The only thing I don’t like about Fuego is Magseal, since I pretty much work on my own reels now. But at 50 bucks I will buy it any time. Most of the flexing problem, I’ve heard coming from using bigger size for saltwater. The graphite frame on Fuego is not as rigid as Zaion frame(start from Procyon).

Once I started using Daiwa LT series (Legalis) I now have 3 (Tatula LT, Ballistic FW and Kage LT) I also have Exceler LT coming in a few days.
