Tube bait jig heads for shallow ponds

What’s some good jig heads for shallow (5’-7’ deep) ponds? I have some GYBC 4” Fat IKA’s and I don’t have any plain jig heads on hand.

Fat Ika should be fished weightless.

With a worm hook like a Gammy 4/0 EWG rigged like a TR?

Any regular ballhead jig with a long enough hook would to do the trick.  If I’m not mistaken though, the Ikas work best when rigged weightless on an EWG.

If you want to fish a tube style bait on the bottom, just look for any hollow body tubes, I like the Strike King Coffee Tubes. Strike King also make some pretty decent priced heads. I’d go with 1/8 oz or 3/16 oz for a body of water that shallow.

You could try a Gamakatsu skip gap hook. They are specifically designed to Texas rig a tube and seem to hold better on the hook than an EWG hook does.

Try the Stupid Rig. My fav way to fish a tube and it's weedless!

I like that. Might have to feed the monkey again!

I would be using 1/4 oz tube. If there you were fishing a river with current go 3/8 For that depth

I like the strike king tube jigs for the bigger sizes like 3/8 or 1/2 oz.

cabelas has a good tube jig and they are cheap.  I can’t remember the price think you get like 10 for 3.50 or 4.50.  I have a bunch of those in 1/4 and 3/8.  Strike king is a horizontal hook eye and Cabela’s is the vertical hook eye.

For the Ika I would go weightless rigged backwards.
