Notice of planned outage

Hey guys,

Just a heads up that we'll be upgrading the server and many back-end functions Friday night.  During this time, there will be periods when the site will be down.  Don't fret!  This is a normal part of the process, and is expected.  There's a possibility the down time may be for an extended time, but know that means we're working on it already with the intent of getting everything back online as quickly as possible.

The upgrades are necessary as the server's core operating system and associated features are reaching end-of-life.  Updating everything is not only required, but also enables us to provide future enhancements.

This upgrade will not affect the website in any way, except that you may notice faster page loads.  Aside from that, you will not notice any changes after the upgrade.

Thanks in advance for your patience and understanding. We'll do everything possible to do this as quickly as possible.

Glenn

Thank you for the heads up!

Tom

Migrating hosts too? Or just upgrading to a newer version of Invision?

At the very least hopefully I start seeing nginx in place of Apache in my response headers moving forward :P

Don't worry Glenn after this year we are all getting used to change.

Will save me much anxiety.  Thanks

Is this the BIG surprise??

Best fishing site on the web.

Thanks for doing what you do. I would be lost without this site, especially in the off season :)

Thanks Glenn.  My morning routine would be seriously mundane without this site.

Hey guys,

First I want to thank you for the kind words.  I appreciate it immensely.  I also want to include the mods in the accolades, because they put in a lot of hard work here, and they're why things run so well.

Second, the updates didn't go as planned, and so we had to revert. We're back to how things were. :(

But not to worry. It just means we need to go at it from another angle.  Which means it's going to be a few weeks before we'll do this again.  But this time it will go much smoother, with very little down time if any at all.

More to come....

Thanks for the heads up Glenn, appreciate it.

I tried to visit the site last night and the rest of my hair almost fell out before I remembered your warning. :)
