So I've used them in the past but have gotten away from them in favor of rage menaces and speed craws. Who still uses the old single grub on a swim jig? What determines when you throw one? What are your favorite grubs for this application?

I like the Kalin's grubs. If I'm around big fish chasing gizzard shad, I throw a big white bucktail jig with the 6" Kalin's Mogambo grub - 2 of my 3 DD's have come on this combo.

I'll use a Zoom 4" grub often.  Sometimes they like it better than a paddle tail or craw.  I can't really say why.  I'll just try one, and if it's not working, try something else.  

I occasionally use a single tail grub but I'll use a twin tail grub pretty often.

They've caught fish for decades and never stopped. I like Kalin and Berkley Powerbaits in 4-5" on a tungsten jig head. They have their days when it seems like just what the fish want for size and swimming action, easy to fish shallow or deep.

I live in swim jig country and around the guy the guy that is regarded as inventing/perfecting the swim jig. Rage menace and single tails are all I throw on a swim jig. Occasionally a little dipper but not often.
