Tatula CT is rock solid.  The Magforce braking system is incredibly easy to set and go .

  • Save some money and buy a standard SLX .

  • There are reels in very good condition that sold for over $350-$500 new available in the Flea Market very close to the OP’s budget. Tom

Shop around and get 2 Fuego CTs. Amazon had one a couple of days ago new for $62.

If i get 2 new reels id have nowhere to put the second one lol, Id rather put the money into something that will last awhile and wont have any issues.

A fuego ct will last at least as long as a tatula ct ... same reel

Ill look into those then, whats the reason for the price difference?

The Tatula CT has the T-Wing system, the Fuego CT has a standard aperture.

Frame, spool, main-gears are all the same.

Do you already have a rod for this new reel?

IMO should put most of your budget into the rod.

Thanks Ill make sure to check it out. Yeah I've got a medium heavy bass pro qualifier.

Stewart Discount has Tatula 100 for $125 with free shipping.

I've had every version of the SLX with the exception of the JDM SLX DC and the SLX MGL 70 is my favorite. I wouldn't worry about the spool size unless you are using heavier line. I use mine for cranking, so I make far cast with it and never come close to running out of line. I usually use 12# or 10# Mono.

If I wanted more of a workhorse reel, I would look for a used Tatula SV in that price range in good condition, or try to find one new for $150 or so.

You'll hear a lot of different options when it comes to what's "best" but when I need a reel for around that price, I usually go with a Tatula CT. You can get them off of ebay for as low as $70 brand new depending on when you buy it. I've bought a few from Tricetackle2016 without a problem if you're worried about getting a bad seller.

If I'm not in the $180 range (Curado K) I'm usually looking at the SLX. I just think there's tons of value there. Feels great in the hand and it's a workhorse. No need to pay more unless you want to.

Great reel in whatever flavor you like. The XT is in your range and is a very good reel.

Daiwa Tatula CT will be on sale Tackle Warehouse Dec 18th sale. It will be on sale 30-41% just don't know exact discount yet on the reels listed. I'd say pick which one you like the best. I have a good number of Daiwa reels, that is what I use. I've tried the Fuego CT but I prefer the Tatula CT.

Can I ask how you know this so specifically for this date? I've been looking for a good deal on another Tat CT and with customs and shipping to Canada the BF deals weren't quite good enough. Also do you know if the sale will be on the previous gen red and grey or the new 2020 blue and grey ones? Thanks.

TW already has the dates and discounts published on their site for their '25 Days of Christmas' sale. The starting date for the 'Diawa Reels' discount is part of that published info.

Visit Tackle Warehouse on their homepage for the 25 Days of Savings. The Tatula CT is listed day 12. The Tatula CT is the previous version with red spool/tension knob. Still a very good reel I have 5 of them.

The Daiwa reels are definitely 31-40% off on the 18th?

Only the CG80 & previous Tatula CT.

The only two Diawa's they have on the sale page are the CG-80 and Tatula CT

I’ll take the previous Tatula CT. I picked up my first earlier this year and I love it!

I'm tempted - even at the lower discount...it'd be $90...and I got enough wiggle room.

Someone convince me the Tat-CT is worth getting beside my 2-Fuegos and a Patriarch...

Thank you both for the responses and the heads up! I bought one of the prior model ct's earlier this summer and am very happy with it. Will definitely have to consider grabbing another for this deal.

Only difference I can tell between my tatula and my 3 Fuegos is the wing T. And to be honest I can’t tell you whether I prefer it or prefer to not have it.

I looked at both of them a couple of weeks ago.  I went with the ct.
