I didn't Try P5 but I have G-Loomis and I am glad I went that way, right now my two conquests are my to go for bass fishing and I cant tell you what is good of this rods, but I can tell you There is nothing wrong in them, cosmetic or performance. So I highly recommend you to get the conquest. If one day I have the money ill get all line of casting and spinning of conquest.

What applications do you plan on using it for?    I would only go that high end for bottom contact.    Those rods are overkill for moving baits in my opinion.

I have two P5s and just received my first conquest. I've fished several nrxs and can tell you this conquest feels special. I don't think you can go wrong either way. To me, it would come down to two things. 1.How do you feel about warranty. Your money is always safe with Loomis because of their warranty. It's very rare that if something happened it wouldn't be fixed or replaced. 2. What the specific application you're looking for. One company may have what you need versus the other. They are both fantastic rods.

Overkill?  What do you mean by that?  Do you mean capable but there are other cheaper alternatives?  Or do you think the CNQ line is more geared for bottom contact?

Yes, cheaper alternatives are out there.   I LOVE LOVE LOVE high end gear but I wouldn’t go that high end on a rod for moving baits (cranks/squarebills/small swimbaits).   My most expensive rods I use for jigs and finesse plastics but if you got the $ then by all means go for it.     Good luck with your purchase as you can’t go wrong with either of those sticks!!

I bought a Conquest 783C a couple of years ago. It's a MHF and has done well with my favorite spinnerbaits and trailers, chatterbaits, toads, jigs, whatever. Even cranks down to 10'. Then I bought an 843C, an 844C and an 843C. That's 3 MHs and 1 H. I love moving baits, toads and 10.5" worms. Now I want a medium rod more suited to small cranks and such.

I'm trying to decide between a MF Conquest and something like a Megabass Z-Crank Elseil. I'm in no hurry to decide, I have many less expensive rods that will do the job, but they aren't nearly as much fun as the Conquests.

The best cheap rod I have is a Quantum Ultra I bought years ago at a show for $25. It's a 6.5' medium 1/8 to 1/2 oz with full cork and IM7 graphite. My buddy also bought one and it's still his primary spinnerbait/chatterbait rod. He has first gen Steez on it. We liked the rods so much I tracked down the last 3 in North America at their warehouse in Oklahoma. They'd been a loss leader combo and I got them delivered for a total of $19.85 each. We tossed the useless cheap blue reels and kept the rods. The show dealer had been selling rods for $25 and reels for $10 iirc. He had racks and bins of cheap stuff. I wish he'd come back.  :)

I have a Conquest 843c and it's good for bottom baits or single hook moving baits. I wouldn't want to throw treble hook baits on it too often, but it will handle them in a pinch. It's an awesome rod that cast better than any other high end rod I've owned, and the cork is super nice and tapered, which I like. I don't care for the color of the wrapping, but the rod blank itself is beautiful all the way to the tip and glistens in the sunshine.

One thing to consider is the warranty, Conquest are lifetime, but I don't think the P5 is.
