Hey everyone, I have a MF 6’6 Gloomis GRX, a MHM 7’2 St Croix Bass X & a 6’9 Megabass P5 Super Destroyer HMF; all baitcasters. If I had to add another rod to my collection what specs should I be looking at? Thinking of adding a fiberglass rod maybe, also might add a single spinner. Looking for any and all opinions. Thanks so much!

What lure(s) do you want to use where you usually fish that aren't working so well on your current rods?

I guess none lol, top water is usually thrown on my 6’6 GLX, jigs and plastics on the Bass x, and anything else on the megabass... I wanted to start fishing bigger lures but I’m sure the Heavy 6’9 Megabass could handle them.

It's rare that I go out anywhere anymore without at least one spinning rod, so I would probably start there. 

Agree. Personally, I prefer throwing spinners/buzzbaits from a 7’ spinning rod. And I still prefer my wacky rig on spinning for some reason.

Yep...gotta have at least 1 spinning rod for stuff like shaky and Ned. 7ft medium fast is a good all around starting point.

Spinning rod for sure. 

 

I normally run with four bait-casters (medium light to medium heavy action), and at least three spinning rods (medium light to medium action). 

 

All but one are Cabela's branded rods from the 1990's. They are made with Loomis blanks. 

Echo the above - spinning for finesse and wacky at least.

 

My arsenal is 5 casting, 5 spinning...and they all get used based on the situation.

A wacky rig and Ned rig probably account for 75% of my fishing with a spinning reel.

Along with drop shot and Neko rigs. I also bought a E6X 853s JWR for nighttime and windy weather fishing. 

 

A spinning rod for finesse fishing would easily be the way to go. You will have to decide if you want a medium or medium light. A medium is more universal, good for shaky heads, tubes, drop shots especially larger wacky rigged worms etc where the medium light is more of a specialty for drop shots with smaller baits and ned rigs.

I've had a St Croix Avid X 6'9' ML/XF for a few years now, and last night I ordered the Daiwa Tatula Elite AGS 7'1" Ehrler drop shot rod which is a M/F with a Tatula LT 2000 size reel to pair with it.
