New Rods

Guys I was looking to new fishing items and I was checking rods as well, What I noticed is Most(All) of the new rods have split handles, I personally like the rods with full cork handle not split type, I only have one split type and thats G-Loomis Conquest spinning and thats it.

So what about all of this new designs, In my idea it is not that much difference in sensitivity at certain points when it comes to fishing. I mean I think it is the only reason they doing it.

Do you have any idea?

For years I was a full cork handle guy until I bought a Powell Inferno.

I don't think split grips has to do with sensitivity or cost, well maybe cost to a degree. I think it's more about a lighter rod.

I like split grip more than full cork and Eva foam more than cork. Less thing to clean and worried about showing dirtiness.

I use to be in the strictly full cork group but over time I have changed my mind.  I tend to use both and really don't see much of an issue either way.   I like the feel of full cork on hook sets but like the ability to hold the end nub on a split grip when casting> weird.  The only thing I have come to dislike is certain EVA grips on the some of the rods I have.  When they get wet they're slippery.  They collect more dirt and gunk that gets dried in the EVA.   Then, over time, some I have had have become brittle and cracked.  Not all EVA rods are this way though but I am sort of leery of buying another one.

I too will only buy full cork handles. I now use Dobyns Rods they have rods in all the price ranges & they excellent rods.

It's about the $$$.  Good cork is expensive and crappy cork isn't cheap either.
