Ewg hook wacky rig

Wacky rig? Nope.

Owner SSW in #2 or 1/0 or Owner Weedless Wacky in #1 are the hooks I use for wacky rigging. They give enough 'space' for the fish to get itself hooked on.

A size 1 mustad EWG hook was the only one I used for senkos years ago. Until 2016 this was pretty much the only bass lure I threw lol.

I've seen it done, and I've seen fish caught like that.

NDYakAngler, whom I follow on YouTube, uses a red EWG hook for wacky rigs, and he does just fine with that rigging.

I'll stick to neko hooks and weighted jigheads, though. Just more confident in the presentation that way.

I have gone to NEKO hooks and won't look back

What is a Neko hook?

Yes if I don’t have my wacky or Neko hook with me. If it is temporary fish doesn’t care but it will get snagged a lot more than hooks said for wacky/Neko hook. I only use #2 EWG hook though if 4/0 I would rather go home than lost my rig at first cast.

No, but it will work, just not as well as something more suited. I like the finesse wide gap, but anything similar will work. I do use offset worm hooks sometimes, and I am T-rigging, and I just want to see if wacky might be better, but at that point, I'm probably painting something, and stare at it.

I also go smaller wacky.

It’s interesting everyone saying you get snagged more cause I feel like the EWG helps me stay free. Although I only throw the wacky rig where there’s nothing to get caught on. Same with shaky.

No EWG hooks, use Owner weedless Wacky Jungle hook size 1 for 5” Senko.
