Soft swimbaits for deep lake smallmouth

Featured Replies

Any use a 1/2 oz or 3/4 oz soft swimbait as there go to rig?   30 to 40 feet or however deep you fish for summer lakes

I do not see why this would not work out. I actually was going to do some of that offshore in my last derby. The water roughness stopped that, but I had a swimbait rigged up I with a 3/4oz jig head so I could get down to the 25-30 range for smallmouth.

I believe in the heat of the summer it could work out well if you can find em out deep.

3/4oz Damiki underspin with your 3.8-4.8 swimbait of choice.

I use a dark sleeper for deep pools in my North Idaho lakes. Works really well. 3/4 ounce.
