How did you best learn how bass behavior according to weather during certain times of the year? Did you learn a little bit at a time by being on the water or was it from reading a certain item, or possibly watching a video?

I know the basics but am always trying to improve and am looking for your favorite resource it what helped you really learn how bass reacted to certain weather conditions in certain times of the year.

   I don't know about anyone else, but I learned it by time on the water (for rivers) and the people here at BR (for lakes).  I don't put much by magazines or videos.  ?       jj

Time on the water, observation/testing, reading (books/magazines/this forum and other internet sources). Always open to more information.

The Cosmic Clock and Bass Behavior is everything I know and hasn’t changed much in over 45 years.

Another source is Bill Murphy book In Pursuit of Giant Bass.

I cut my teeth bass fishing well before the internet. All my information then was from the top magazines of the times. Fishing Facts, B.A.S.S. and others, along with the few TV programs of that were aired then.The remainder of my schooling was on the water trial and error and the information I remembered from reading. 

Sad to say, similar to my school studies, I didn't remember the majority of what I read. I did however remember enough from my on the water experiences to become a fairly proficient angler.

My point is; some learn from books, some from others and some from experience.

Time on the water.. Trial and error and also plenty of nice articles here on the forums! 

Time on the water for me. I had a long and ugly learning period, but now I feel like I rarely skunk. What really helped me was finding a secret spot of unpressured fish to boost my confidence. Unfortunately, the glory of my secret spot did not last very long, but it lasted long enough for me to use those fish as guinea pigs to learn and then to apply those skills to the tougher fisheries.  

Wanna learn bass behavior...learn the baitfish behavior.

Time on the water . I started fishing way before the internet and read a lot of magazines . I guess my reading comprehension isnt too good because I just play it by ear . I think I know what the bass are up to , until I get on the water .

Time on the water. Watching the water (since I’m usually on the bank). I was watching a fly fishing video recently. The fishing guide said when you get to the spot don’t just start casting. Look at the water. Look at the current (still water still has a lot of movement). Look for fish and bait. That is just as important as everything else. The more time on the water, the more of these things you’ll see.

Very true for most endeavors. You can learn about things by reading about it or watching videos, but you will gain competence by doing.
