Line conditioner and cast nets?

Featured Replies

I’ve got a question…. Has anybody ever use monofilament line conditioner on a cast net?
Shrimp season is here and my net has been in a bucket for two years. It’s got a memory problem bad.
Thought if it works our reels why can’t it work on a cast net.
Any thoughts or suggestions???

I’ve heard letting it soak in fabric softener and water for a couple of days.
I apologize if this isn’t in the right section.

Thanks

Never thought of that one, might be plausible.

Don’t see why not but you may end up using a gallon of the stuff.
My son in law, who is a salt water guide uses fabric softener.
Let it soak for a day and hang it up to dry.

I always dunk mine in the water before throwing it, helps a lot.

How much fabric softener does he use? Or does he use it straight?

He uses a small wash tub and estimates about a 1/4 cup whenever it’s needed, when new a little more

He puts the weight’s on top to keep it down.

I was buying 4 salad plates for my wife's discontinued luncheon set. You have to buy this stuff when you see it. Discontinued pre-2000 iirc.

I don't visit fishing gear sites if I can help it...  too expensive. Now where's my order from Discount Tackle with the Tatsu.  :)

If the net is Nylon it’s hygroscopic absorbing water.

1st try soaking the net in warm, 100 degree, water over nigh before trying adding a fabric softener.
