Quick connect swivel

Featured Replies

You're going fishing. Favorite lake, spot, season, and fishing buddies. Not a tournament, just enjoying life. When you place a lure on your line, do you tie the leader directly to the lure or use a quick connect swivel? Same question..... but now your in a tournament?

The only time a swivel gets used by me is on a C rig.

Been thinking about the same thing myself to quickly switch top waters from a walker to a plopper. Just don't think the action would be the same without a loop knot.

Think about it. The loop on a snap is just like the loop on a loop knot. It allows the bait to swing side to side through the radius of the loop. It actually increases the action over a direct tied knot because you don't have a fixed fulcrum.

I tie a big loop, I have noticed a small loop keeps a walking bait in a very tight walk where a loop big enough not to snag the front treble gives a nice wide walk. Guess I'll have to try some snaps and see for myself, tired of having two top water rods on the deck all morning.

I don’t use a swivel or a snap on any bait other than a c-rig.  My favorite topwaters are “walk the dog” style baits.  How far side to side the lure moves is totally dependent on my input on the rod and how much line I have out.  I can turn a Sammy 180 degrees with a good old Palomar knot. ?

Doesn't matter, friends don't let friends use snap swivels.

Most bass anglers don’t use snap swivels but use snaps like Glenn video should help with.

I use Owner Hyper Hyper Weld snap size 2 for crank baits has replaced Berkley Cross Lock snaps. I don’t tie direct to split rings.

Fish the same tackle regardless if it’s day on the water or a tournament.

I use snaps a lot with treble hooked baits, but rarely use a swivel or snap-swivel. Swivels are for C-rigs and baits that cause line twist.
