I haven't had any issues with the 2019 CT SV TW XH at all and really like it.  The new 2021 reel seems like more of a refinement rather than a major upgrade.  Longer default handle and finer pitch gears that purportedly are smoother are the main improvements.  I'll have to wait till Dec to do a hands-on comparison.

Sigh...  Availability date at TW has been pushed back to 12/15 (from 12/1) so I'm no longer expecting to receive this by X-mas.  This is the second date slip of which I am aware.

Don't get your hopes up...I cancelled an item last year after the 5th date-slip. Original 12/6...when it eventually pushed out to 3/22 I gave up and ordered it for a little more from someplace that actually had them in stock.

Got a Lew's Reactor for $30, Denali Kovert White River edition MM rod, a pflueger president 30 for $25 and a friend gave me a Virtus MHM rod fresh off the line.

I have a fair number of Daiwas from TD-S thru newer SV spooled reels.  Never had a problem with the brake dial setting moving on me.

Same here. I have a bit of a problem with buying up all the TDs I can find. If you know of any...lol!

Prescient remark.  Availability now pushed out to 12/31 (from 12/15 and 12/3 originally).  Guess I'll just get a lump of coal for Christmas this year.

That's why I only order items that are actually in-stock from TW anymore. Never again will I order something from them that has an 'expected' date associated with it.

I looked at all the usual reputable vendors and didn't find the specific reel (2021 Steez CT XV TW 70 XH) in stock.  The 7.1:1 gear ratio version seems to be generally available though.

If you're talking the 8.1:1 right hand - Hook Up Tackle says they have 3 in stock now.

Got a st croix avid x incoming, ordered direct for $175 shipped and wasn’t charged tax either. I selected the 7’ medium/fast baitcast, going to pair it up with my shimano 71 mgl and 10 or 12 lb fluoro, should make for a great all purpose utility rig.

Many thanks @MN Fisher!  It's on the way 2nd day air.

Edited to add:

TW was very prompt and easy to deal with in connection with cancelling my [overdue] prior reel order from late October.  Was able to request cancellation and receive a prompt acknowledgement over email.

I decided to give Ark rods a try and got an Essence because I really like full grip rods for certain things.  TW has again sent me another rod that would be on a blemish rack, so its going back which is disappointing.  There's a couple nicks and sizable scuffs that stick out like a sore thumb, but the 8" vertical split in the cork is unacceptable.

From just handling it, I'm somewhat underwhelmed by it overall.  I like the blank, handle thickness and reel seat design, but the actual material the reel seat is made of feels just like the cheap plastic on 100$ and under rods like SLX.

I really want to like it.  Hopefully the next 1 TW sends me doesn't look like it fell out of a truck and I can get it out on the water.

Grabbed 3 NFC Delta blanks for $140 shipped. If they fish as well as the 1 I already have they were an amazing value at under $50 a blank.

Daiwa 7 ft Tatula M/R Glass rod

Daiwa Tatula Elite Long Cast
