What Line for this Setup

Featured Replies

I purchased a daiwa rebellion 610MHRB to use as an all around rod/jig trig rod but ended up getting a AGS target sniper over black friday before even putting a reel on the rebellion. The target sniper is going to take over as my jig/worm rod. I am thinking of setting up the rebellion for spinnerbaits/chatterbaits/swimjigs as primary use and walking topwaters secondarily. What would be the best line or combination of lines to cover this spectrum of usage? I was thinking probably braid to FC leader.

30lb PowerPro braid to a 12lb Yo-Zuri hybrid leader, if i had to choose the brands, i would do the braid-leader combo because you want to use swim jigs and i would remove the leader for the swim jigs

I agree with Kenny Yi, but I find 40lb power pro is the minimum for braid dig in on hard hook sets.  Or at least I find the problem is something I no longer have to pay attention to and I see no performance drop off with 40lb.  I run 20lb on my M casting set up, jerkbaits, small t-rigs, small swimbaits, etc and I have to pull line out constantly to make sure I avoid the dig in.  You might be better or more responsible, but this is how I handle it and haven't noticed any issues.

Honestly,

I may be lazy,  but all my setups are braid to mono leader

I'm a fan of Sufix 832 40lb. No leader for me. That's just what I prefer though.

Here's a curveball. If I am pitching into wood, I will use Tatsu in 15lb.

I just use straight 15# Tatsu on my regular jig rod. If I'm pitching jigs into heavy cabbage, then it's 50# 832...no leader...on the flipping stick.

If I'm putting braid on a casting rod, I'm not using a leader. I for sure wouldn't put a fluoro leader on if you're going to try and use it for topwaters also. It sounds like you should pick a quality mono or copolymer instead unless you're around moderate to heavy grass, then go straight braid.
